It's not useless, it allows lvl 1 people to get up on the pipes, and allow later non flyiong gears to do the same, thou I'm not 100% sure if a battlesuit can jump it, probably it can.

You know, you could walk all the way around to get on the pipes. I do that quite often when I rush the alien base on that map and you barely face any alien on that path

Except a Bsuit can't crouch, so it won't be able to go anywhere.

It uses too many turrets to be worthwhile, I think, unless you are playing on SST.

I originally designed it so that with the help of one other player, you would be able to get up there, just like the original arachnid.  And Im pretty sure its possible...

i think he mean that once the BS is in the vent, it wont go far until there is a support hanging down. and since the BS can't crouch, it cant go under it.

Get two humans on top of the ledge with a single jump each.
One crouches, the other one jumps on his head and then up onto the pipes.
Easier said than done, I'm afraid.

or you could just go around shooting aliens instead of walking on pipes, stage 1 or not.

Yeah, most aliens rush straight there every time on that map. Walking the other route will actually get you there with much less effort.
