I have got a damn good idea for a map, readers of this section will finbd this phrase a lot lol

Some time ago the idea of an alien base hit me like something that just hit me. I realised that all these maps are of HUMAN bases, admitaddly the aliens attacked the humans, but who cares. The aliens do need a map.

The main structure should look above ground like a massive hive, it should go under round a little bit it needs to be made of a porous skin-thing, with the larger pores able to let dretchs go through them.|Maybe the base is filled with a toxic gas that does, say, 2hp to a normal human per 30sec, 1hp to a helmeted human per 30sec and no damage to battlesuits|Idea scrapped. Some parts of the larger passages have to have smoke in them, so u cant see your doom approaching, that would be cool. If it is too much of an advantage, u could have the smoke only deep enough to submerge a mara.

The humans base wouldnt be inside the uber hive, but rather like a little facility outside or around it. The map is open air, with steep hills enclosing it so no one gets out (alive).

I think that this would make a great map, however I have never mapped before, (information on how to would be nice!) and do not have the coding skills for special effects.

Any new, experianced or pro mappers out there who would like to have a go at this map, plz tell me

hmm...so it sounds like default alien base is in a giant hive...and then the humans default base is outside surrounding it...erm...lol...and on top of that ur map has like one main structure and nothing else

with a bit of imagination a second floor can be added, vents and pipes added, underground tunnels dug to different parts of the map dug and such and so forth

it is just my imagination, this can be scaled up to produce a map which is a huge human compllex built around this alien uber hive, with everything ive mentioned befor, it doest have to be small.

OF course there are 3 major areas to this map, alien uber hive, human facillity and the GREAT OUTDOORS. The humans are not meant to make a base in the hive, but its their choice, theyll just need medistations. It would be easy however for humans with armour on to own smaller aliens cos they would be stuck in a tiny are so, unless you are blind or completely retarded, 75% of your shots would hit.

There has to be things like slime dripping inside the hive, with a door to the hive and the door to the base looking like bloody, slavering maws, with teeth or whatever. Maybe the passages should undulate slightly, like a beings intestines? In some areas there should be fog deep enough to cover a mara, however it shouldnt be very dense unless the small aliens just sneak kill the humans.

If I could I would add pictures to illustrate wat i mean, but i dont know how so if any1 could tell me how that would be gr8 as i do have pictures, dfrawn in paint lol

However the mapper should be careful not to give the aliens an uber advantage, the human facility has to be good fighting ground for humans, uncomplicated and long corridors and larger sized rooms. The human default base should either have to tyrant sized doors, or 1tyr size door and 1 ventilation shaft (up to normal goon, not adv goon).

The doors should be rather quick opening ones, no slow blast door things.

Outdoors should be like a rocky mountainside, rising up sharply at the boundary edge. There should be rocky outcrops in some places, with tunels from the alien base leading to these(?). The ground should resemble mars, red ground, same sort of barren scenery. If u really wanted to, perhaps make it so that there is no air outside, and so un-battlesuited humans survive for about 5 seconds, so they can get back inside (or just kill em straight away). This also means that aliens would be safe once they reached outdorrs, humans wouldnt be able to chase them, so this does pose some problems, maybe u only need a helmet to go outside then, so humans can use jetpack, even though if there were no air the wouldnt be able to

. But it doesnt have to be factual, or scientific.

I voted no plainly because its not that great of an idea...theres a hive with holes in it and humans outside...erm...not much of a map

If done right, this could be damn cool. But no damage to humans just for going in the alien 'hive'. That encourages way too much camping.

I'm thinking have the humans crash-land their ship in a valley/crater, initial base in a cave nearby. Hive is on the other side of the 'outdoor portion', with twisted walkways leading up to the doors. Have a tunnel system connecting the human base to the hive(which is partly incrusted into the crater's side).

Hive itself should look like some twisted intestine or something.

I think that sounds quite fun.

nice idea trak, i understand concerns over humans camping if there is poison gas, so i can dump that idea

Ive gathered from multiple posts that ppl are worried and skeptical about the size of this map, the thing is, it could be absolutely tiny, or it could be gargantuan (lovely word lol). This just depends on how much passages, rooms, outside, or hive u put there.
