We ({SGA}) have officially retired from Tremulous.
We ask that all currently existing members drop the {SGA} tag from their names and move on as they see fit.

Lol,
I knew this was coming.
This is just another "quit while you are ahead" moves, IMO.

I've noticed more and more original SGA players disconnecting midgame due to not having the upper hand, just so they don't show up on a SS as "owned"

It seems SGA is set in leaving trem as the "legendary" clan.
One problem is that SGA hasn't played one single real clan match.
Some of your good members have left SGA due to this exact reason.

I don't think we should believe him... On their forum he has two posts, one is a post saying they closed in announcements and another is saying they closed in their tremulous section...

Haha, yes this was done intentionally. Wouldn't you think that this news belongs in both categories? Did you even look at the poster of the entries? ;)

To Phreak:

This is funny. "Quit while you're ahead?" I've heard of some pretty weak jabs {SGA} has taken, but that just makes me laugh.
As far as matches go, many people talk of matches, but push come to shove no-one wants to get their hands dirty. I had a thread started for {SGA} matches, as well as having TerrorEast make some threads on matches as well. We stuck our heads out fair enough as it was. Pushing a match on others proves nothing, and if no-one puts up, then everyone shuts up. At least, this is the way we {SGA} see it. ;)
As bad a thing it is to say about the newer members, I don't really feel that we are missing much. *None* of our non-gloom members really stopped by in any way, shape, form, or fashion, unless you count a forum that was created as a joke in the first place. If they wanted to leave, Lord let them - this is our organization and it definitely isn't meant for everyone, what can I say. :P

Thanks for the good luck though. It's a good feeling to be the first of firsts, the original #1. ( In North America, at least. You Euro people do your thing :P.  (And to you devs and betas that rocked the house way before us.))

Nah, I didn't do this by myself. Cataclaw, TE and I shared some words on this, and we all pretty much agreed that we are tired of Tremulous, at least in its current state. Some changes have been made already that are in the right direction, but nothing worth re-installing the game and re-downloading all the maps for.
As far as SST matches, I'm lost. Although SST was (and is probably still ) an excellent ego inflator. :P
And fear not! No more pesky basilisks for you to disconnect games over, even if I was in the wrong for toying with you some days. :(
(p.s. basilisk is for 1337z, goons are for babies)

i was told you are currently playing on sst.
so let me get this straight, {SGA} finally becomes a bit active (not necessarily in clan matches but in new membership) and you guys decide to close it because its not going in the right direction? gj. the 'new members' had more matches than the 'old members' in a much shorter time.
by the way im a different player now, although i still /quit when i get frustrated :oops:

I just thought it was VERY suspicious a person with 2 posts on a clan forum had the authority to close a clan, guess leaders didn't use forums much or something. Just seemed awfully weird when I saw this... sorry about that.

Yeah, we don't use forums much, and definitely not forums we create for a game. We use IRC or email.

To Yahoo:

I would honestly say it's an accountability issue. The real 'core' of {SGA} doesn't play Tremulous anymore ( nor has really played in a consistent fashion in recent hitory ), and for a game we don't play, we can't be held accountable for anything that happens with our few other ( now ex- ) members', if that makes sense.

And yes, we will most definitely "close down" any thing where we don't see it going the way we want it to. Why should we risk embarassing ourselves with the suckiness of other players, especially when they cannot compete at everyone elses' level? ( This also is why we tried to keep our numbers down early on - with the loss of the core members, "{SGA}-weeds" sprung up, hence the "activity" you noticed. We can't have that - you understand. )[/i]

The "{SGA}-weeds" was just a term for sudden unexpected players that really weren't so great for us. It's more a point of reference to Yahoo's observation of "activity." Once the more "core" members dropped from playing Tremulous, noone had really officially shut it down, and as a result other members with no real right or permission began bringing in other members. After we noticed this some time later, we decided to formally state our withdrawal, as it apparently isn't obvious that most of the better {SGA}-players aren't around any longer, and the actual usefulness of {SGA} in Tremulous has declined since our leaving.

That's too bad.  Back in the day (around 0.8 or so), when Orc was with FU, I used to piss him off with my "come on" taunts while he was goon'ing us.  And poor 'ole Orc never could quite come to terms that he played second fiddle to the might hatboot.

Hatboot, where are ya?  You, sir, are by far THE trem legend.  These young kids these days wouldn't know nothing about that.  Would they?
