I still think that at least half of the noobs would spot a sticky topic at the top of the page.
Any noobs that do create a new topic can quickly be pointed to the sticky.

I've always assumed assaulting someones age on the internet is a retarded thing to do. It shows a lack of any real arguement as you simply grasp at illusive nonsensical reasons to rubbish what someone says. Still you claim to be the sensible one here  :wink:

Look, you ask a question for the first or second time, you'll get a straight answer. You ask it for the third or fourth time and you'll get a link. You ask it once more and you'll get yelled at. That's how ALL forums work. We HAVE answered this question twice already and provided links. It's time to start yelling at lazy noobs.

Last time we tried that the lazy noob made another topic asking exactly the same question 2 days later. SO THAT DOESN'T WORK. :roll:

You know what? I have an idea. We won't respond to repeated question for 24 hours and let YOU answer them over and over again before we jump in and start yelling. How's that?

Oh, and BTW, getting yelled at for lazyness is an important lesson for the noob. If he learns from it, he might actually become helpful someday. However, lazy noobs who get babysitted instead get only more annoying. So we actually do them a favor by yelling at them.

It was actually Mr.Fox's idea, except for the part about waiting 24 hours.  How about waiting for a week or three?

Has anyone tried doing them a favor by ignoring them after the fourth inane question, to see if that treatment results in a greater number of productive citizens than the abusive approach?  Even if they just give up and go away, the S/N of the forum would improve without all the flaming.

This thread has degenerated far beyond the original point of the thread. If you want to start a philosophical debate regarding questions in forums, be my guest, but please use the "Off Topic" forum, and a separate thread about it.

Now anybody who comes to look for answers to the question originally asked will only find this flame war, and he will probably start his own thread with the question.

As mentioned earlier, if you are tired of answering the same question over and over again, then don't. However, please don't diminish the efficiency of the forum as a source of information by clogging any question with flames.
