Ideas for Tremulous

[Pentium]

Hi, i'm new in the forum and i have some ideas to be added in tremulous.

New units/weapons:

Aliens:
Advancer dretcher:
In addition to the Dretcher's abilities, the advanced dretcher can cloak itself making invisible from human players for 30 seconds. The abilitie needs 2 minutes to charge.
Can be detected by a human with a helmet making the dretch visible with a "Depredator's outline".

Advanced Tyrant:
In adition to Tyrant's abilities, the advanced tyrant can steal and use the human primary weapon.(this is crazy and funny).

Human:

Weapons:

Rocket launcher:
A long range weapon with a remote control rocket. It holds 5 rockets

New structures:

Aliens:



Human:

Storage:
Makes the weapons 25% cheaper.

Please comment!

Rocket goes down to 3 with a 5 second delay between shots. Does around 300 damage per shot.

I would suggest another race like half man-half alien would be cool.

Also a Human vs Human or Alien vs Alien map would also be great.

You could also make an armor which makes humans invisible but some evolved aliens (Advanced Marauders +) can see them via Infrared or heat detecting vision.
Or is this a bad idea?

hmmm what could they include more?ahh yes a canon for humans which only fires huge opponents (suchas as tyrants and goons).

for aliens you could include a web which will cause humans getting stuck to it for a period of time when touched. (you could also include a poisoned web)

If you wish to post suggestions for the game

a) Learn what the basic alien is called - what the hell is a Dretcher
b) Use the appropriate forum
c) Actually get to know the community - if you have a post count of 1 its generally a good idea that you have absolutely no idea whats going on
d) develop your ideas beyond "??"

he dretch should not be completly invisible, maybe tottaly invisible on radar and when not moving.


A sonar vision would be awsome for alien. They could see humans and buildings through walls.

Another neat thing may be to try and trick the aliens natural radar. Like you use an ability that changes your smell (or whatever) and the alien sees you on the radar as an alien.

Marauders that sucide and temorarly deactivate turrets etc.

I have alot of ideas, stupid or not...

1) Because there's a off-topic forum for discussions not pertaining to Tremulous.
2) Because he wants to stay in touch with the community in hopes that one day he does play again.
3) He doesn't post very much anyways.


As general responses to this thread.
1) Henners has a good point. Even if his list is rather mean, all of it is true.
2) The ideas Pentium came up with were all the make the game more enjoyable, possibly by implementing ideas that he saw in other games (i.e. the rocket launcher from nearly every FPS made) but I don't think Pentium really considered the impact of these ideas. Currently, Trem is pretty balanced (IMHO), but with the implementations that Pentium is suggesting, I think the game-play will go funky and no longer be an enjoyable experience.

1) Agreed.
2) The flames are true, thus instead of lying to Pentium, Henners tells the truth.
3) It seems you have a misconception about the idea of flaming; Henners is criticizing the most basic mistakes that a new forum makes. The insults that you take Henner's comments to be may be hurtful, but all of them are criticizing the topic starter's post in a truthful way. If you keep the idea in your head that criticizing people is OMFG INSULTING, then don't go to school - you'll be criticized by your teachers a lot there.

I would like to see the advanced basilisk have a chameleon feature. Once it sits on a structure for so many seconds it begins to turn the color/shade of that structure.

It would also be a good idea IMO to change the human radar to only pick up moving targets. Ah la the movie Aliens. So instead of a radar it would be a motion sensor.

The reason being so that the chameleon feature actually works for the alien since it's S2 instead of getting them killed by a helmet because they were standing still.

I think the eggs could still be displayed on the motion sensor as well because if you look at them they actually move a little bit. We can just justify it by saying the sensor is really sensitive.

Now these are just change up features that I would personally just like to test to see what they would do to gameplay, but it's just a thought. I derived these from the posts in this topic. Take it for what you will. If you don't like it, then that's okay I don't expect this to ever see the light of day. I'm just merely throwing out food for thought.

I would like the human radar to get better, not worse. Its bad enough that the thing only refreshes like 1 time per sec
