Ubuntu crashes on plugging in USB device
« on: January 20, 2007, 02:18:45 pm »
Yeah as the topic says my system crashes when i plug in any USB device.
It makes whole system freeze, restarting X does nothing :(

System logs (the ones in system -> maintain -> systemlog) got no info about it.
00:03.0 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] USB 1.0 Controller (rev 0f)
00:03.1 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] USB 1.0 Controller (rev 0f)
00:03.2 USB Controller: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] USB 2.0 Controller

Those ports are actually USB 2, not 1

If anybody can help, please do.
(Yes, windows sucks, you dont have to prove anything about it here!)

Edit: My USB keyboard and mice worked on live cd, now they dont

Does dmesg say anything about the USB controllers?
