There is a greasemonkey script that removes all siggies, you can find it at userscripts.org.

Ironic comment seeing as you also have a giant sig pic. :)

How is it possible to remove all sigs? The HTML makes no distinction between message and sig...

Personally, 3MB images do not bother me ( too much ). What I don't like is:
- sigs that look like a normal message
- sigs that take too much space horizontaly and break the page layout in the process
- sigs that take too long to load ( server down, slow server ... ) and cause the whole page to look as if it didn't finish loading

I suggest that sigs shall be limite to 128 bytes total, only one line and that [img] is completly ignored :D

18 ) Make it too tough for the enemy to get in and you can't get out.

i wouldn't go that far, i would rather see a limit on image size (both pixels and bytes) to keep it from breaking the layout and to keep dailup users from taking forever to load the page, and all animated images completely ignored (the enemy territory forums did something similar), so you could still have small stuff like userbars, but none of the huge animated gifs we have now.

Ok let's plan it out. Asva, you are nub, go sit on rets, I will build, you two go feed like hell, you go pwn their asses, and everyone else camp in the hallway, roger?

You can only do that when the image in the sig is hosted on the forum itself which would be a pretty big change in the way it's handled ;)

i've seen images that couldn't have been on the forum itself (the xfire sigs), so i think it's possible.

Well, I don't know how they can do that but I'd be happy to learn that trick :)

Anything that isn't hosted on a server controled by the forum can be changed at any time with a big flashy blinking annoying GIF image.

IMHO the following phpbb mods need to be applied:

MOD Name: Post Image Max. Size
Author: Swizec
MOD Description: Admin can set the maximum display size of images displayed in posts. Images bigger than that are shrunk and turned into a link to the normal sized version.

http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=294443

MOD Title: Restrict Signature Height & Width
MOD Description:Will help enforce strict Signature size restrictions on forums. If a user places an image in their sig that is bigger then what is set, the image will be cut off on the sides and bottom.
Text will also be restricted and will word warp to the area set. If it goes past the set height, the text will also be cut off. Same is someone posts one long continues line of text with no brakes in it.

http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=383923&highlight=signature

MOD Name: Remove Users Signature & Editing Privileges
Author: fredol
MOD Description: Will allow ADMIN to remove signature & post editing priviliges to specific users

The dopefish is small enough that, imo, it should still be allowed. and bigger though should be killed.

Never mind that. There should be a sig picture dimension limit, or something along those lines.
EDIT: Never mind, Khalsa beat me to it.
(And No, I'm not really satisfied with my sig)

Agree that there should be limits on size.  If this is too big for whatever limit is chosen, it's easy enough to scale down.

Just imagine if everyone posting here used a graphic sig too.  Hmm. I wonder.  It's the old dump your trash in this one spot syndrome until everyone else starts too.  Some people prefer a relatively clean environment.  Keep the Coal plants out of here.  Just saying...

Hey foob, I wasn't referring to you, just posting after you.  My apologies if you think I was singling you out (or anyone else for that matter).  It doesn't matter to me one way or the other really.  I just stop visiting forums altogether after the pollution index overcomes the readability index.

I took the sig down not because I feel singled out, but because after thinking about it, that's what's right for me.  Not saying what's right for anyone else.
