It is common knowledge that the bounding box and the model for the battlesuit do not line up.
The model is sizably larger, the top of the Bbox lines up with the stomach of the model.
What should be done to fix this?
I'm playing Tremulous on a Mac!

The box and model should line up, the size should be such that you can believe a human is in there.

I say leave it, I really dont feel like readjusting to a new hitbox/model. Its just something you have to learn, like hitting an egg.

yeah, i guess so, that egg thing is kinda hard to get used to when ur really new, but i think that "fixing" the bsuit bbox will make gameplay better, i mean, if you hit the suit ur gonna injure the human or make the bsuit smaller but that'd be retarted

I've read somewhere on the forum that in the new version (1.2.0) the camera position for the BSuit will be placed higher to match the actual head height.
Don't remember if there was something about the bounding box, but it is worth to search the forum and find out if this will be also changed.

It has been discussed extensively on the bug tracker and Timbo said clearly he has no intentions to make the bbox change. Go look it up in bugzilla if you want to know more about that.

Alternatively, if someone could code it up in a satisfiying way, I'm sure it might be included after all.

I haven't made myself clear. The problem isn't the different bbox, it's making the bbox change while ingame. Aliens do not need to be close to an armory to evolve, humans have. Go look up the corresponding bug on bugzilla.

since it is just the height it is not a great problem
Timbo was thinking about the width too since width change near armory will effect lots of things
but a little change in the height doesnt effect much unless armory is built on a f'ed up place or come noob is standing on your head

the bsuit bounding box is the size of a naked or helemted hummie, and that size is fine.

Except that you have to aim for the middle of a bsiut to hit it's head, and that if the bsuit model was the same size as the hitbox, there wouldn't be room for a human inside it.

Not to mention that a Human can't reach the armholes.
Also, it the Bbox defines collisions with the environment, and if your armor can go through solid matter, how effective is this armor?

Seriously: look at the size of a bsuit, then look at the size of the humans.
Do you think the humans would be able to move very much, not to mention sprinting as fast as an unbattlesuited human and lasting longer at it?

There just has to be some hydraulics in the picture, which means the human would probably not need to have their arms in the arms of the bsuit, only have some controls.

And, i mean if there is a human in the bsuit, the only thing able to hurt that human would be hitting the actual human inside the armour, therefore, the hitbox should not be larger than the actual human.

And the bounding box works fine in game too, so there is no reason to possibly unbalance it by resizing the bbox because you think this is logical, but it is in fact not.

If you are going to be realism- freaks, reduce the size of the bsuit itself.
or make it so that the only thing any kind of damage outside the actual human bbox, but still inside the bsuit logical size, would only impair and decapitate the movement possibilities of the bsuit.  this is probably what would happen in real life if we had battlesuits and fought aliens.

But now, trem is not real life, so i say you should leave it for the sake of not messing with allready eccelent gameplay.

Which was my point, except from the issue that the battlesuit will have to have quite thick soles.

But shifting the bbox up would be a no-no since it will make bsuits better.

I didn't though about that! OK, I'm sold, we need to change the battlesuit BBox, even though it will make some passages impossible for them :)

I would think that one of the logical advantages of having a battlesuit is that you're taller, making your head harder to reach.

And what's wrong with the egg hitbox? It makes sense to aim for the base of it...

And if they changed the egg hitbox, aliens couldn't spawn from the egg, they'd have to spawn ontop of it instead of from inside it.
