So I know Tyrants have 400 hp. Yeah, duh. And the rifle should do a better-than-average 150 damage per clip. So I've been heatedly told by many alien advocates. However, this is a situation I'm usually faced with:
UCTBb2, that ledge outside of the far entrance into the human base makes a nice spot to take potshots at tyrants while they charge into the base. I'll usually stake up there if I've joined late and have only a rifle. Now, what usually happens is a Tyrant charges in - I fire off one clip as they speed into the turrets. I am POSITIVE all my shots hit, since first of all there are no black marks on the wall and frankly, they aren't hard to hit at that angle. So the Tyrant does his business, usually eats a turret while getting shot by 2-3 and perhaps another rifler or somesuch. Then as he makes his get away I empty ANOTHER clip into him, again not with any misses. At this poing I'm thinking he MUST be near dead so I leap off and pursue. I'll be honest and say I get in maybe half a clip due to misses before getting eaten by something. My response is usually "Errrr....what? HP?" And I've even gotten responses as high as 200.
So assuming a) they arne't lying on HP b) I can safely look at my screen and see I got in anywhere from 2-3 clips
What is happening here? Tyrants don't have any sort of armor against lower forms of weapons and the rifle DOES do 5 dmg per round, correct? I've been talking around OPP and Beer Garden lately and was surprised to hear some higher-end players share similar stories.
150 on the way in + 150 on the way out + 25~75 in pursuit means they should have only what, 75-25 hp to spend on those turrets? And yet they can take one out while most likely being hit by some other human weapon.
