Heavy deconning on T-Base
« on: January 26, 2007, 10:06:33 pm »
Hi.

as I couldn't find a forum for the T-base server, I'll post this here in the hope that the right people read this:

At least the last two days there's been very much deconning on the T-Base server... Many games only last few minutes until someone decons human base, or decons all eggs. I have played maybe four games there yesterday, and at least two were deconned... Today I saw how two or three games in a row were deconned. Not sure what to do about this... maybe having some more admins there would help?

Just posting because I like T-Base server and would be glad if it stayed the good server it is (was?)

Thanks,
Oliver

If there is an admin, have them ban the griefer. If years of administrating various servers on various games has taught me much, talking to a griefer DOES NOT WORK. Just ban them and get it over with. It's not like losing that one player is ever going to affect your servers' popularity, or the amount of people coming to it. If anything, it should improve the server's popularity.

If my answer to your problem doesn't seem helpful, it means I won't help you until you show some effort to fix your problem yourself!

Odin: Yes, long-time kicking of deconners/griefers would be my favored solution as well :-) So far the only solution is to quickly vote-kick them, which still takes too long... And today some griefer just responded to the vote kick with "ok I'll be back in 2 minutes" and indeed he was back :-/

next_ghost: Designated Builder might help, but I also think this makes the team too vulnerable while voting... So an admin would be needed anyway. Also, I'm not sure if voting is really always good (think of the "lets kick the opposite team's pro player" vote calls which often pass because many people don't seem to think when voting :)

Also, DB doesn't help against people who kill base with grenades or lucy... So I think DB would be better than nothing, but won't really solve the whole problem.

Btw. I've also seen apparently experienced players deconning, maybe just to skip over the current map. I could "understand" griefers, but I don't really see how I could enjoy a map without fear of deconning when I've just maddened the whole team with my deconning...

Why one would play on an unattended server and say it's a "good server" is really beyond me.

I like the server for its settings and because I enjoy playing with most of the other players there. So far this outweighs the drawback of missing/not enough admins.

Who knows if they have a forum, but on the Tremulous forum there is actually a section for server discussion, so might I suggest that this thread be moved there? Let's keep GD clean of what can clearly go into other sections of the forums.

Yeah, Boom Boom was adminless earlier and we had two consistant deconners (in a clan called TNT). The worst thing you can do is scream at them "U HAV NO DIK U R SO GAY GO KILL URSELF", it's best just to call the vote to kick them and don't say anything. As someone there put it, "deconners jack off to attention".
