Ok, so far the popular consensus appears to be:

Tough looking but not too masculine
No deliberately exaggerated assets
Something on the lines of Ellen Ripley, Linda Hamilton or Vasquez.
Uniformed in a similar style to the current male model with no deliberate exposure of assets

Without exagerrated assets, you're just left with Rosie O'Donnell parts oozing out of a bsuit.  Vasquez? Ripley? What's the point of a fem model with hairy pits or a bald head? I don't get it, and hope I never do!

if you want a curvy female it might there are probably some custom models made for quake3 that would do the trick. it should be doable because the tremulous engine evolved from the quake3 engine.

the model's pk3 could be altered so that if it was dropped in tremulous' base folder it would replace the marine character. i imagine it would be quite a popular mod.   :-)

Except if you tried to play on a pure server (most of them are) it wouldn't work.  Also, the marine has a different second stance and attack.  (replaces the gauntlet pose with the pistol grip)

The bbox wouldn't be a problem unless the model had some veeeeery odd proportions, or was scaled incorrectly.

also, just because female characters share tights doesn't mean they are "showing off"
they have to be quiet, with robes and clothes, it will make noises when moving
