I've read through the plan (infact its been residing on my desktop for about a week ) and now Im wondering...

when a human dies, do they lose all their upgrades in replication ?
Or are you taking the firearms approach and keeping everything throughout the game, so you can mold yourself the "perfect" soldier for the job at hand as the game progresses ?

I'd imagine it would seriously annoying getting a double hard commander suited, Ion whoring, C4 toting, SOAB human only to be confronted by a circular saw to the cranium pack a few seconds later

But it would also add a *lot* of value to the lives of your teammates (construction especially), which can only be a good thing.

The plan was, that when you die, you lose everything. You might be able to salvage a usable gun, or a helmet or something and cash it in at the MCU.

The deal was, that if you ARE a higher class human, you have some pretty nifty armor that will keep you from becoming mauled from the first sawblade that comes flying your way. Armor has a "penetration" value (instead of a set amount that is deducted, ie gloom), and on the contrary sawblades wouln't penetrate into this kick-ass commando as you predicted.

But, if this guy does something stupid such as go into a base alone, or running blindly into a screw-defense trap without more "expendable" teammates ahead to scout around.. they can kiss thier shiny armor goodbye.

For the droids, We'd thought it would be interesting to unlock certain classes when you infest a human with lots of armor... as an added bonus. There are many possibilities at this stage.

Actually, it "drills" through your armor first, if you have any, then impales your skull. Gives you some time for your teammates to save your ass.

I was using the Screw Defense as an example. I'm not too keen on the idea anyways, and we will iron out any gameplay issues that are deemed unfair or whatnot. Dont worry about it.

Excellent.

Heh, if you have any better ideas.

It looked good on pen and paper 5 months ago, now it seems stale and unfair. An idea I would shoot down. Someone please come up with more crazy defense thingsies.

Localized Gravity Proximity Mine?

Pulls any metallic object nearby into it, exploding on impace, and causing immense pain/death : )

I heard that one before...

The main consensus in #tremulous was that being sucked in, well, sucks. Having no control over your character and watching it go to an immenent death or to be injured beyond belief and get capped down, sucks. A slight gravity well would work, taking any form of advantage from the enemy... but gravity manipulation as a weapon, hrmm, your going to have to convince me.
