Question: How many lines of code have you contibuted to Tremulous (or any other big software project)?
Most likely answer: Not a single line
Conclusion: You're NOT a hacker.
If my answer to your problem doesn't seem helpful, it means I won't help you until you show some effort to fix your problem yourself!

Since Hacker know how to use a spell checker, I voted no.

Actually, anyone can be a hacker.  Not everyone can be a developer.  So, I voted yes.

Btw, your dretch hopping on naked hums merely qualifies you as a hacker.  We've all been hackers at one time or another.  When you can take out three helmeted hums and a bsuit with that same dretch, then you might be a developer.  Until then, you probably fall in line with the rest of us somewhere in between nooblet < noob < colored name noob < hacker < l33t < developer < hatboot.

Originally a hacker was considered someone who knew their way around a UNIX enviroment and could throw together a script (or a 'hack') to get around everyday problems. And a hacker doesn't nesscesarily mean a good programmer but it alludes to their style of proramming.

TinMan

True that. People too often use hacker in place of cheater or cracker, there are many differences. You can even be a life hacker, hacker doesn't necessarily mean that you create shortcuts and fixes for computer related things. I'm a life hacker. I'm also a Chicago 2600 and Defcon 312 member though.  :P

Wait.

Yes, there it is again!

I can hear it all the way over here!

It sounded a lot like a jet.  Did anybody else hear it?

In hindsight, the OP did ask "do I cout as a hacker?".  Notice the clever misspelling.  He is definitely a C++ developer and was just poking fun at all the java hackers.  He's really quite brilliant actually.  My apologies.

::ThePredator

A true c++ hacker always leaves the std:: ;)
