Help me find a new graphics card =S

I'm looking for a graphics card for my new pc. I'm looking for a nice card for gaming, within the price range of $300.

Pc: Hp pavillion Media Center m7790e customizable tv pc

The Default Graphics Card: 256mb NVIDIA GeForce 7500le

Other specs of the new pc:
AMD Athlon(TM) 64 X2 5600+ dual-core - 2.8GHz
2GB DDR2-667MHz dual channel SDRAM (2x1024)
250GB 7200 rpm SATA Hard Drive

I'd recommend that you stick to nvidia chipsets, I've had way more problems with ATI drivers and Catalyst in XP than I've ever had with the little bugs that nvidia has (and they fix pretty quickly).

Nivida 8800 is the best single graphic card today.
Nivida 7950 is the best single, dual graphic card.
Nivida 7900 is the best SLI graphic card. (SLI = two card linked by a connector bridge, internal)
ATI 1950 is the best Crossfire graphics card. (Crossfire = two cards linked by a connector wire, external)

If you want dx10 support, then yes, an 8800 is needed but the myth that vista can't play dx9- games is not true, atleast not for me.
I play sims, tremulous, seven kingdoms 2 (really old game, didn't work well on my xp, but is about 9 years old xD) etc, though if u want to play gba games on vista, it won't work (damn you vista)

You might want to wait for the newer PCI-E 2.0 that is coming late or mid this year...  and it is backwards compatible with PCI-E

Seven Kingdoms 2? Awesome Game! I got it 2 years ago at the Dollar Tree, for, you guessed it, a buck. One dollar well spent.

For the Gfx card, I suggest the ATI X1950. (I personally use the ATI Radeon X1600 512MB, if you care to know.)

Go for the 7900GT if $300 USD is your limit.

Otherwise i would recommend saving up and waiting around for the R600, ATI's new DX10 card rumoured to be released sometime within the next few months.

They're likley to be pricey though, probally around the $600 USD mark.
