First off whats up with the name ? looks spamilicious.

Ok to answer your questions.. I'll try my best

A ping is the time in Milliseconds that it takes for ones computer to connect to another. The lower the ping the better. For instance I will usually ping around 300 on an austrailian server and usually 50-90 on a server thats near me.

A pure server I think I might have the right idea but im not sure. I believe it means only PURe clients so ones that havent been modded with aimbots etc. can connect to your server.

MaxRate anyone else wanna take a stab at that? I know though the setting does not need to be changed.

Zombie time is I beleieve the time in seconds or something like that a certain amount of time it takes to respawn from one spawn. Not entirely sure but keep that normal.

Dedicated servers theres many types of these. I will call them STOCK Dedicated which is the one you can run at the moment with no other addons required. Than theres TJW Dedicated servers, which run TJW's admin system, and theres balanced servers and also many others liek tremX. All the servers you play on that are up 24/7 are one of these types other than the stock dedicated servers.

If you set your server to dedicated it will close trem and open up a blue console. This is runnign your server dont close it. I beleive it is much better than using nondedicated probably less laggy.

Yes when you exot tremulous with a nondedicated server your server WILL shut down so your buddies will be unable to cotinue playing. I recommend if you have the time and the will, go to http://trem.tjw.org and download the right files you need and follow the directions there to get a dedicated server set up with admin powers so that you can ban and kick people you dont want in if your having lets say a private game thats not passworded.

The STOCK server that comes with tremulous 1.1.0 does NOT have any admin powers at all, so if you try to kick someone you will have to use votekick, and most likely it will not work, it is quite buggy.

I hope ive helped you in some way if you have any frther questions you can post them here, search the forum, or post them here. I would recommend however a mod moves this topic to servers, and out of troubleshooting, since it has nothing do to with a problem about the game. [At leats i see it that way]

Nope
That is idle time, for instance, when you are banned.
You will be idle for a while until it actually brings up the screen saying, "You have been banned by ______ Duration: _____"

SST has a high zombie time.

Ping and Rate:
Ping is the time in milliseconds for your computer to send data to the server. A real-time multiplayer game like Tremulous constantly sends data(when connected to a server). The amount of data is determined by your "rate"(do /rate in the console to see yours; if you have broadband I recommend doing /rate 25000). The server's side has a similar command, sv_maxRate, but instead of determining how much data is sent, it is just a maximum. sv_maxRate is the maximum data sent, and most servers have it set to 15000 through 20000, though some allow higher rates. Again, set your rate on your client to 25000, to always get the best(and smoothest) connection. The higher the rate setting, the more data is sent in the data packets, resulting in a smoother connection, actually giving you lower pings(though some cases it won't help you, like if you have an old broadband connection that is very slow). Now, there is sv_minRate, which prevents users from having too low of a rate, resulting in a laggy player. If their rate is set below the sv_minRate, the server will force the client to send packets at the required minimum size. A good setting for this is 5000.

Dedicated Servers:
A dedicated server is a version of Tremulous that only runs the server-side code of the game. The client is capable of running a server called a "listen server", which is basically what you'd use in a LAN party, or any other kind of temporary game you need to set up. It is purely for temporary reasons. The dedicated server version of the game is actually a separate program that you need to run, usually with a script telling what kinds of commands to add to the program to make it initialize the correct data in order to run like you want it to. Information on how to do that can be located in the faq. Basically, it's a program that runs in a console, and you can't "play" in the game. This makes it much faster than a listen server because it doesn't have to initialize things like graphics. It's just the server. This makes it better for keeping running all the time, hence a "dedicated" server.

No, you DIDN'T do everything written in the FAQ. And of course you can play on dedicated server from the same computer: tremulous +connect 127.0.0.1
If my answer to your problem doesn't seem helpful, it means I won't help you until you show some effort to fix your problem yourself!
1.2.0 release's been delayed for 5:48:00 already because of stupid questions.
