I don't know if this has been discussed before but...
I would love to have some kind of dual wield option, but make it slightly more difficult to get to. For instance, you spawn with a rifle, but the second one costs ~$500. That would help give the aliens a fighting chance (as well as giving them upgrades, like new levels to evolve to, etc).

So what do you guys think?

your aim would be significantly worse while dual weilding. also, most of the weapons make no sense to dual wield (MD, shotgun). i can vaguely see a BSuit dualweiding chainguns, but that's abou tit.

How do you intend this to change the gameplay, and why does the gameplay need to be changed in that manner?

By allowing humans to weild 2 weapons, you're effectivelly allowing humans to dish out 2 times the normal amount of damage, and still at a great distance(And I can just imagine the damage dealt by pain saw)
So I supose, to balance this, you should allow aliens to attack 2 times faster and/or deal 2 times more damage at a slight evo cost. I want my tyrant to be able to claw through 5 bsuit in a min and still live!

Dual wielding shoulder fired weapons is silly.  

Except maybe with the bsuit.  However, that leads to rather extraordinary balance issues.

That leaves dual blasters, which would be a few damage points shy of the rifle in damage/sec.  If builders would be able to carry them, then grangers would have to be buffed significantly.

But really, I don't see the point.

maybe a purely aesthetic mod, that has no game play changes, just draws to weapons.

Yea, that could actually work. It could drop the 2ndary fire on both weapons, in exchange for using right and left mouse buttons. It could also work only with a few weapons, like for 50c you could buy another rifle, another prifle at normal price, those are the only that are really single handed.

Double blasters, lol.

Dual blasters would be a fun mini-game though.. I can imagine it now...

Two humans, with a node at either side of the huge room.
A faceoff to the death...
Their only weapon... the mighty blaster.

Could do it now anyway, just double the rate of fire. Still waiting on the granger games mod though...

meh, not needed for now. We need to fix other stuff. Then we'll think about adding new weapons and stuff. Or make a mod for it

How can the shotguns fire faster WITHOUT an increase in the amount of damage? And if the damage doesn't increase,what use is there for that?

PS: all dual wield weapons suck. In CS the dual pistols fell sooo fake it hurts to use them.

Dual blaster wield with advanced ckit only in S3 only within range of a reactor/repeater might be semi-kewl if granger spit was slightly stronger also (becomes acidic near booster instead of just poisonous or something like that). In other words, in some very specific situation, and late in each game, to allow builders to help destroy enemy strutures in advance bases. Something to make building in S3 slightly kewler than building in S2, besides the unlocked structures (if there are any). Yeah, I'm new.

PlayerOne thinks dual wield is pretty silly, but it could be cool w/ 2 blasters
and reminds YourMama that there is always Halo2 (or Unreal Tournament)
also a dual-wield play mod that gave aliens 2X (or some factor to be determined by play-balancing) speed would be pretty wild (but Tremulous needs better players, not weird mods, even if it is open-source)

I think it should have an auger like in Resistance, then hummies can really get their camp on.

ok, you have two shotguns, you fire one and reload the other at any time, but because you have to hold two of them, the spread is increased alot, so although damage increases at close range, it decreases at long range.

I get yelled at or deconned for building the few S3 structures that there are. Until yesterday, I hadn't been able to keep a tesla for more than about two minutes without someone taking it down to put up a turret to slow down Tyrants (yeah right, hot slag a-flyin', thanks, I'll repair that after I run away with third-degree burns). I play a lot of mass confusion servers, and don't notice every stage change, as I rarely buold past S1 or 2 (someone better usually comes along, or someone more insistent). And whenever I try a hive or a hovel someone takes it down to put up an acid tube or trapper. I have to admit, janev, I posted in haste, meant to edit, never did, and plumb forgot. Sorry to insult your proclivities, I know you like to build. But it's all cool now, I looked up that factoid, and I'll use it again sometime or maybe never. So many maps and structures that people say are useless. Oh, well, every game has the kewl tools and the lame stuff. One man's ATCS is another man's Uncreation.

On topic, I would like a better weapon in S3 for destroying enemy structures while I'm building. Time to play with 'nades more. (Another good way to get vote-kicked in pubserverland - you shoulda seen the cliquekicks going on yesterday at either SST or one of the related servers [jumping around, looking for gameplay & ping, don't remember exactly where]: 'Kick player because he annoys me' as reason and vote passes.) Some of the servers I play on have widely varying BP, and some players seem to hate making an advance camp, especially humans. A slighly beefed-up blaster with advanced ckit in S3 would keep the dretches at bay. As would one tesla, and constant repair, if "teammates" (co-players might be a better term) would allow/support. Big ol' smiley face of thanks for calling me on that.
