I'm wondering if such a thing exists that can let two USB sources use a single USB device.
Here's my situation: I have a Think pad X1 Carbon (5th Gen), and an older desktop computer I built years ago. I recently picked up two ThinkVision P27h-10 monitors. A cool feature of these is that they can act as a docking station of sorts, where a USB-C 3.1 cable goes from the computer to the monitor, and lets the computer use other USB devices (keyboard, mouse, headphones, etc.) connected to the monitor in addition to video and charging.
Right now, I can hook up my desktop via this cable (USB-A on the computer end) along with a DisplayPort cable, and use the monitor as a USB hub. Then, when I want to use my laptop, I can unplug the cable and plug in one that goes to the laptop.
That's all well and good, but it's kind of a pain to do that swap as it's behind the monitor. I've already ordered a USB-C 3.1 extension cable so it's a little easier to reach, but I'm wondering if there's a switch so I can leave everything plugged in and just turn a knob or press a button to alternate between computers.
I'm open to any and all suggestions, no matter how far outside the box; thanks!
