New demo concept
« on: April 02, 2007, 09:47:11 pm »
I recently started recording more demos... So therefore a suggestion what might be a good idea:
1. make the /demo player better (eg fast forward, rewind, change speed...) plus allow to remove HUD etc..
2. you can cycle through stuff that you carried, why cant you see the stats (if you press tab it quits...) I would suggest that the only key that would exit would be esc... its realy a drag when you watch longish demo and in the middle you press some stupid key and it quits... :)

other than that I'm happy with the game and dont want to add any class/building/weapon :)
maybe it'd be great to balance the game a bit..
I love playing for aliens, but I see that they have slight advantage in the endgame (as3 vs hs3)... or maybe noobs mostly prefer human team.. but when I look on the stats of server I play on, the aliens have slightly more wins that humans do... (maybe except for ATCS being the one exception...)

I would like a choice on how the quality will be of the demo, so that it doesn't kill your (read:my) fps :P

If you want a lower-quality demo, you can just turn down your graphics settings. Demos aren't videos, they're just a recording of all the actions that players took in that game. So I understand.

You kow what'd also be nice? The ability to annotate demos or insert breakpoints after they're made (I know they can be sped up/slowed down, but it'd be nice to flag specific moments). Obviously though, since demos are rarely used nowadays, this isn't really a priority.

How about this, the ability to edit demos, to clip things out, to add titles, etc. Halo3 has something like this in design, and it would be a good idea for trem. As for the control rewind/fast forward, where and how?
