I know that the maps are cool and all but there are only about four and its getting kind of old. it would be nice if a  few ppl could map out even 1 or 2 maps.

try...idk...MAKING YOUR OWN. the same maps get boring but im too lazy to make a decent one, so i stay quiet. (in that regard :P)

M8, there are 100+ maps, however, these maps are not shoved into your face, you have to download them.

OK assuming you're not a sock puppet or a troll:

There are at least 8 default maps for Tremulous. And several good threads with links to maps. Get Ancient Remains, Hamunaptra, ATCSZalpha, UTCSb, Gloom2beta2, and Gloom3t to start. Tell us your operating system. Also, check out the keen and neato search feature on this here forum. OK, come back in a week and tell us what you thought. Good luck.

The REAL problem is, the people are too lazy to download the new maps, and therefore the servers only run the default. Only smart people will put up custom. If you look, EVERY server runs default maps (except like 5) and if you look real hard, you can vote them but its very rare because most dont have them. Why? Because people dont check the forums, and therefore the download SHOULD come with the custom maps... When you DL trem, u only get like 10 maps, instead of the 30-40 that are out there... (Common Custom Maps)

Ex; Ive never played Metro, but thats cuz no frikin server has it or people reject the votes... So sadly... Thats the problem, i hope in 1.2 the custom maps are added...

My idea = Add a Custom Map Launcher that Downloads / updates old maps with new ones from tremulous data base thats submitted by mappers... This would indeed, be a great Updater!

The REAL problem is that most of the custom maps put a lot of strain on the server, because they are badly made. Loads of Eye-Candy but not optimized to be played on an average server. And the average server sill uses the monolithic build instead of the shared.

We do host custom maps, and see that most players actually get them via (enabled) www_download.

Evlesoa, your idea to put them into the release plainly sucks, there are more thatn 800MB of maps around. Do YOU want to d/l that map-pack, knowing that not even 10% of those are ever used?

Your other idea of the automatic downloader is already realized and published.
