Easier handling of weapons - idea
« on: April 06, 2007, 02:44:17 pm »
As a newbie player - what I found most frustrating in handling weapons:

Perhaps chaingun should be a bit more precise?

Flame thrower should have a bit longer range...

And Lucifer cannon is REALLY sloooow. Perhaps too slow? Games like Quake had superweapons which where strong and easy too handle - once you have them its triviall to kill enemies, it is not so much true for say Lucifer cannon because of very hard aiming... even you RUN faster then the missile flies O_o

Perhaps chaingun should be a bit more precise?

It is more precise in bsuit or crouched, but the chaingun is a spray and pray weapon, and that spread really helps against moving targets you don't have to lead as much or it hits them in like four different places..

This is a tossup for me, flamers have enough range that all those dretches rushing at you get slaughtered and you can kill tubes pretty safely, but a longer range would make for more slaughter.. But the short range keeps alot of players from using flamers, which is very good on FF servers, if your whole team had flamers you'd toast your own base in a single rant rush.. keep flamers as is IMO..

The Superweapons in Q3 were also harder to get, the point of a superweapon is that there are like one or two... The luci right now is powerful and its slow speed gives smaller aliens the advantage, however it also only takes one shot to kill them. Luci = weapon for large foes.
So making the luci stronger would unbalance an already iffy weapon..  :P

Blackelf-

It must seem very innaccurate, but that is what they are supposed to be.

Chainguns aint laser guided, they have kickback, the idea behind them is volume not quality.
As for the flamethrower, it never has been the favoured tool of the brain surgeon.
If we made them accurate, then things would get rather unbalanced. Also, it defeats the purpose of those weapons.
Try wearing a battlesuit with a chaingun, reduces kickback and should feel more accurate.
As for the luci cannon, see raptors comments.
In other words, no.
And stop being so harsh on the new people, they'll get to know the ropes before long. (to sleekslacker)

Btw Blackelf, how dyu put the persons name in the quote?
Ive never got that...

Dude,

Click on the quote button to see an example of the proper syntax.
It's:
open bracket
the word quote
an equals sign
the person's name in quotation marks
close bracket
what they said
open bracket
slash
the word quote
close bracket

...or start a post and click on the quote button. All the different ways to do stuff is right there. phpBB is super-user-friendly.

Go ahead. Quote me. Have fun with it.
