How starirs became transit:
Once apon a time godmil showed me a photo of a fairly big industrial complex with a staircase in it. He dared me to remake it in q3. I did.
This staircase map began to grow untill it became huge. Really huge.

The map, starirs, is around the size of 4-5 normal maps.
This map didn't want to compile (lol) Here is a newer version. ydnar released a q3map2 that could read .ase models and compile them as brushes. It looked a lot better now.

The old starirs base was replaced.

The map was still way to big so I decided the get rid of everything and just leave the outpost. I added some sections to make it look like it was entirely underground.

Looking familiar? I later deleted half of the base and replaced it with the trainstation section that transit has today.
Starirs was really fucking huge. From starirs to transit took a couple of years.
