Any one here have Half-Life 2?
« on: April 17, 2007, 10:01:27 pm »
I've got this elevator bug that keeps me from progressing beyond the first part of the "Black Mesa East" episode. If you have HL2, could you share with me a save game taken right after the lady doctor gets on the elevator and starts it down the shaft? That would be awesome.

I've tried the other fixes and none have worked.

Peace.

I hated HL2.
Great game and all, but steam is the worst bit of shit ever.
I paid good  money to get the game, and then spent 2 days trying to make it work before downloading a cracked version.

As for the bug, I suggest giving up.  The makers of the game punish you for paying, and call you a thief.  You think their going to give a fuck about a few bugs?
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

I hate HL2. Yes, I am an id Software fanboy, but that isn't the reason.
HL2 is a horrible game that puts the engine to waste, this is not an insult to Valve though because I thought the same thing about Doom 3 when it came out...omg...leet engine, can't wait till they make a REAL game for it...then Quake 4 came.

I don't like most of the HL mods that were ported to Source, but there are some sweet new mods in the works that I would buy HL2 for.

This is much easier. Open your options from HL2 also right click the symbol and type  C:\Programme\Steam\Steam.exe -applaunch 220 -console
Then start the game, after loading it'll show u a console, type into that console "maps *" and here ye are all maps for HL2. well if u mean after black mesa east try this "map D1_TOWN_01" or "map D1_TOWN_01A"
That's all.

Problem is, both of those suggestions would skip the whole sequence after the elevator ride, and I don't want to miss it. If you have the game, can you make a save once both Freeman and Mossman are on the elevator, going down?

This file has a save of Black Mesa East to get you going.

Why not just load an autosave from the water way? You should have 2-3 autosaves backed up unless you turned that feature off.

Oh and as for the sequence: wow you get to watch vortigons in a kitchen, in a break room then a small sequence of playing grav gun catch with dog.

Trust me, just load ravenholm and be done with it yer not missing much of the story other than to know mossman is close to eli.

---

HL2 is indeed much like doom3. A small taste of what the engine is capible of. You have to wait til the engine is refined til someone puts out a decent game for it.

To be honest the grav gun is the WORST weapon they ever thought up. Yes it's cool when you first see it but when you play online (DM/CTF/whatever) you quickly grow to LOATHE this thing with a passion as just about every mod uses it and leaves it uber powerful.

"OMG I can toss a grenade, grav gun it turn and point the held grenade at ground and launch myself into orbit doing MINIMAL dmg to myself but instantly fragging anyone within its blast radius! Perfect logical sense there!"

Like doom3. You play it for the single player cause the multiplayer quite frankly sucks worse than HL1's broken legs online play.

I believe you, but I still want to see it. Can you make the save for me? I've tried starting from earlier saves, no good.

To solve the bug, just save and reload the game, that is what fixed it for me. But I guess using Google is more work than starting a thread on the Tremulous forums.

Once again: I've already tried ALL the other fixes, INCLUDING Save/Load and ai_norebuildgraphs. That's why I'm asking for the save.

What are you talking about? I just beat the game, and even on my Macbook with it's poorly underclassed Intel GMA 900, the last level was THE most artfully done, well executed, level I've ever played! And that doesn't even start to talk about the mind-blowingly cool concept, story, well-casted and acted vocal work. The graphics in one insignificant conversation in HL2 are better than the rendered cutscenes from older games. HL2 is a classic!

Me sad to hear people hate HL2...

I played it before, but stopped before I almost finished the game because I got owned by three legged freaks owning me everytime.

I think what you should do is go back to other places where "loading" comes up and then go back to the elevator

I got hl2. good story and it was fun to play around with console commands and physics but then they started to rip money from people by turning it into some short of mini series that cost same ammount of money as the orginal game (wich is 5 times longer compared to episode one).
Also valve employes know how to anoy people with new more wicked bugs.

i have yet to play episode 1, but i quite like the idea of episodic content, if it means more story and less filler. hl2 was good but i found the long driving sections very boring.

oh, and steam is a nasty pita.
