Tremulous needs Telescopic Vision for Human and Alien Sniper

Kool Idea:

Either included with the weapons, or as a suplimentary item for humans: humans should be able to zoom in on distant objects and aliens as snipers.

Aliens that shoot spiked balls (e.g Advanced Dragoons, Advanced Granger) should be able to zoom in on objects or enemy humans from far away.

Anybody else like my idea? :roll:

MassDriver already can zoom.
Adv Dragoon does not need any zoom since to hit far away objects it needs to get the target out of view.
Adv Granner is the same while so low damage that it's rarely used offencive weapon. mostly to anoy blaster idiots in alien base that have ran out of ammo.

I like to think of the +goon barbs as artillery and granger spit as a giant loogie, but yeah, they do arc.

Because we all need shotguns with sniper scopes.

Also, if you find using zoom on md more effective than not using it, then you need to learn how to leave your turret line and attack instead of camping. Seriously, especially now with unlagged, there is no reason at all to use MD's zoom

It was originally yellow, so i changed it.

All the objects are things i found in a drawer by my computer. Yes i collect scopes, but not weapons. I have something like 8 digital scopes, with something like 500x zoom. I have too many optical scopes to count.

As for scopes, meh. Apart from Mass Driver, I dont really see a weapon which would benefit from this. The issue being that Tremulous is a close quaters game, with there seldom being a need to zoom "Right over there".

it would be interesting if tremulous had some maps with large outdoor areas. it would be an excersise in choosing fights, with aliens keeping to cramped corridors and humans roaming free in larger areas.

I just quoted most of the Subject line.  The key here is not the fact that he wants a scope, (seeing as how there already is one on MD) but that he wants it to be telescoping... where you can zoom by degrees.

While I agree that an alien zoom function is entirely unnecissary, I do thing the Mass Driver's scope could use some revampage.

Campers aren't the only ones to use Mass Drivers, it is fun to occasionally get a jetpack on karith or transit and just float around picking off dretches.  Of course, payback's a real bitch when they hit stage 3 and get +goon, but still...

I think telescoping scope on Mass Driver is a great idea.

OR... here is an idea. You buy a scope, for 200 extra! yay... everyone wins. Make it a buyable item... works differently for every weapon, zooms in for MOST but not all. Ex; Pulse Rifle zooms in a teeny bit like in TremX
