TK doesn't count
« on: April 22, 2007, 12:13:12 am »
I'm tired of playing on a FF server and getting 3 team kills because they all get head bit by a dretch and run into my pulse rifle.

My request is a TK doesn't count down if to victim was below 10 hp before your first round hit.

Just learn to play and don't shoot where you might hit your team.
I play only on FF-enabled servers and I get like 3 TK per Month, not per game.

Well you're pro, but for the rest of us dullards, this might be a valid suggestion.

Does a TK count against your team score for the next stage?
here is the love?

No. TKs don't count for anything except your own personal score.

And I am no pro, heck not even "low skill". I just use me eyes to see if a teammember is in danger to run into my prifle and then I choose not shoot. If that dude thinks he needs to get between me and my target, I usually let him and then kill the alien after he is dead. There is no sense in shooting, it will only lead to TK and the loss of my hard earned credits.

Not going to happen, those server just crawl with TK-boons.
If there is no retribution I could as well play on servers w/o FF and that is just a clusterf**k...

Stop using pulse rifle and lucifer for base defense. Problem solved.

A good idea.  Sometimes it's not possible to avoid tking teammates, especially if they come from behind you and into the path of your projectiles.

Why not have a forgive system?  If you die, you can either forgive your teammates, or not and make them lose points.  Sure, you'd have assholes, but that's the case in any online game, isn't it?

ET does have a 'submit complaint' thing, which prevents XP loss.

I agree with Caveman – it's not that hard to avoid teamkills. If you don't like it, go play on a non-FF server and enjoy your pulse/lucispamming there.

I don't spam, and I don't intentionally pounce friends, but sometimes it's just inevetable. Sometimes you're trying to get that dretch off the lucisuit who's outta ammo and you make a TK that takes half your credits.

Quote

What the FUCK IS WRONG WITH THIS IDEA?! Jesus christ, it's a good fucking idea that helps even pro players because no one can help it when a pack of noobs jumps infront of your luci. Will this HURT the game? NO. Will this HELP the game? YES. Spam kills player with full HP, skill kills idiots with less then 20 hp who jump in your way. This idea isnt noobproofing Tremulous.

Sometimes I'm outta ammo while chainsuiting a rant, I've got 4 hp, and I get rifled by a teammate who was on his way to buy his gear. I shouldn't have gotten that cash! It was a complete accident and hard to prevent. It's not as if I'm just gonna give it back though. And don't even start with "he shoulda let the rant kill you." fuck off. What's with all the flames on perfectly good ideas? Get a life, assholes.

The complaint system is not in place to prevent penalization.
It is in place to allow the victim to forgive the team-killer if the victim does not see fault or intent.

So rather than letting the aliens get the kill, you can just kill a weak human and no harm is done to you or your team.

Your grasping at straws.  Your not going to have time to kill the guy with ten hp if he's being attacked by a dretch.  Besides they still get the kill towards stage I think if they do the most dmg.

@Ceaser - No, it's just the evo.

OK, here's how cred/stage points get distributed, just to clear confusion.

When a player dies, all enemy units who did damage to him (ANY) damage, get evo/cred in proportion to the amount of damage.
Example: You and me both dretch a mass driver in the chest, leaving him with 4 hp, and a 3rd hits him in the foot, for the kill. MD gives 2 evos: I get one (48% damage dealt), you get one, then the 3rd gets nothing because there is no more left to distribute.
Example 2: Naked human comes running around a corner, and you get the headbite, but a friendly goon eats the human before you can make the kill. Goon gets the evo because he did 100 (or 160), where you did only 96.

Stage points:
When an enemy dies, you get the point toward next stage IF your team did over 50% damage to him.
Example: Human runs out to attack, but lucinoobs blast him down to 51hp, and the knockback sends him into a party of goons. Aliens get stage point, because they did 51% damage, where the luci only did 49%.
Example 2: same situation, but the luci blast hits him and leaves him at 1hp. Aliens get NO points toward next stage for this kill, because they did less than half.
Example 3: Dretch gets shot by a rifle down to 10 hp before dying to a turret. Humans get the point to next stage. (60% damage vs 40%)
Example 4: Dretch gets shot by a turret down to 5 hp, and rifle spam finishes him. Humans do NOT get stage point, because they did 20% damage and turret (aka world) did 80%

i hate it when im using rifle and a guy pretty far away is being attacked by dretch.

he gets headshot, i know hes going to die so i try to shoot the dretch, and a stray bullet from the spread hits him and he dies. right after that i kill the dretch and it looks like i was spraying like hell to get the dretch.

i can deal with that

i dont really care that he takes my creds, he can have them. i can deal with that too.

but what i dont like is the whole way it happens. you get a tk from a stray bullet and trying to save him, the dretch still gets the evo, and he still dies.

but really this has only happened to me like 3 times in the year ive played trem.

it probably wouldnt be worth it to code it, but it should be made known that the whole situation is kindof screwy.
will sort out my sig, or I will get banned.

HOW DO I SORTED SIG?

This is a good idea -- you still get -1 on your score, you're just not transferring an obscene amount of credits to someone who doesn't know how to use a medkit & strafed into your fire.

A quick edit to the idea;

Instead of 10 hp, 10% hp.

It'll still be 10 for hummies, but it works for aliens now too.

That means you won't be making a donation to screaming goons who run into your rant.
