Death of Tremulous

Here is the deal.  Every mod I have ever seen for Trem (except server mods that add control) have been focused toward giving humans alien-like features, and giving aliens human-like features.

Tremulous was founded upon the idea that two incredibly different teams could still be balanced.  With the upcoming mods, this is being neutralized, making them more the same with significant balance changes.  This needs to be stopped.

Since no one with a creative enough mind has the smarts to mod, here is my proposal:  Whenever you find a mod that has any "old" or just re-teamed features, post the following on it:

NO MORE MODULATION!!!

This way, we can save the spirit of Tremulous and win the fight against mindless neutralization.

Please help in this fight.  Tremulous needs your help.

I'm thinkin Trem is just fine the way it is, and we will have to adapt to 1.2, but that's still in development of course. We'll have to wait and see.

However, a little modification is fine every now and then. Sometimes just messing around in different ways (*cough* MGTURRET killing your whole team) is pretty fun.

I think regular Trem is the best though, no masive changes could really make it better imo.

Somebody should fork Tremulous and remove the ability to load any pk3 files besides the default ones. Then we'd have pure Trem all the time!

OK, up until this point, you sound fairly rational.

This needs to be stopped.

There it is. Why? If you don't like the direction the Tremulous mod community is moving in, join in and make suggestions of your own, or just play the 98% of servers that play straight-up Trem on default maps. Why come here stamping your foot in childish petulance? There are so many other things you could do that would be of more benefit to the game and the community that it staggers the imagination. Surely it staggered yours.

1) Contribute to the ongoing 1.2 and Mods forum discussions
2) Start your own server
3) State your opinion about the current status of modded Trem, your love for classic Trem, and swear never to play anything but, and on default maps besides, and then go do that
4) Start your own mod
5) Go to servers that play only classic Trem on default maps and thank them for that and encourage them to continue
6) Complain to the mappers for giving freely of their time to create custom maps (since they're probably unbalanced, too, iymo)
7) DL the source code, or GTK Radiant, or any bit of related code and see if you could do better
Realize that Timbo is a dev, not a modder, that tjw and Norf are currently changing Trem into 1.2, vcxzet is having issues, and Ris is having fun.

OK, there you crossed the line again. Timbo's not creative enough for you? Risujin don't have enough smarts for you? Where's your mod, big mouth? Where's your IDEA for a mod? "OH Tremulous is just wonderful the way it is! Don't change a thing! I want to remember this moment forever!" Boo-frigging-hoo. Try reading the credits screen before you open your mouth, you non-knowing spam-thread-starting know-nothing, (a person who is obviously unable to learn from past mistakes). Speak in specifics, (what mod don't you like and why don't you like it?) or STFU and GTFO. Go play whatever version of Trem you like in whatever form you like. 1053r!!

The learning curve for Aliens is harder. Try playing as Alien until you don't suck at it. It took me a full two weeks. The first time you dretch two or three pinkskins in one spawning, I guarantee you'll smile like never before. And I'm still pretty bad, but I won't NOT play as an Alien. I play as Alien constantly. How else can you be a complete Human, and know Alien strategies and weaknesses? I think yer a cool person LB, but how can you make that statement and say you really have an opinion about the game? You only play half the game! The sucky half. You can get a gun and shoot monsters in tons of games (maybe not multiplayer, true) but in how many games can you be the monster (not just an alien with a gun like in Quake/AvP/Halo)?

And, please, don't encourage floorbud (sic). He still hasn't learned, even after that "Rules" thread of his. Don't feed the trolls. *shoos floodbud back under bridge*

You are right, reason I play as aliens is beacouse I don't like to shoot with fire arms. If they had silent knife/blade/katana or what ever and cloaking I would like them lot more. ^^
being something other than human is always fun coz you can sneak behind their back and hit them silently before they can even say "peanut butter jelly time!".
