I admit that I'm a n00b!

So feel free to flame my n00biness.

But I was wondering if someone could explain to me the control layout for the game or explain the whole "binding" deal.

I've read they can be configured in the "options" but I have yet to see any sort of menu.

The options menu is only accessable from in-game.  (why? because we're lazy)  Just join a server or start up a game of your own and press the escape key.  From there its a good idea to go through all options even if you don't need to change them all.  Just to get an idea of what options and controls are available to you.  :)

Ohhhhhh, no wonder I didn't find it lol.

Wow, I feel kinda ignorant that I didn't notice that. I'd probably still be here asking about binding because I'm not too fond of it.

But thanks, I appreciate it!

Maybe some of thoses questions could be answered in a "Newbie" thread.
I introduced 2 friends to Tremulous and here's 2 concept they didn't get at first.

1- You must choose "Internet" and not "Local" to access an internet-based game. (seems stupid but that's still the very first step in-game to get started)

2- Once connected, you should look at the Scores (by default Tab button) to see wich team you can actually join before complaining that there is a message saying you can't join a team.

lol i did that the first time i started to play game... even though i play many games that have that option and failed to recognize it at first... i dont see anything wrong with not being able to do stuff in a game at first... everyone was a noob once and can relate...

also i still dont get this noob thing... what is the exact meaning of a noob??? is it beeing new??? evolving by a mis type of newb?? and evolving from there?? i have seen people use it when people make mistakes or are just bad at a game?? so from going from one definition of being new to like around 50 diff definitions??? the word noob can be used it many diff ways that i just dont understand it anymore...it can be used as an insult which is how i see it used nowadays....

i for one dont like to use that word for those reasons....just seems kinda stupid to use it now..guess people nowadays overuse it and kinda killed it for me....i mean even with names like noobkiller and such..so what are u going to like spend your whole playing time wasting effort on killing people who havent gotten the hang of it yet??? oh congratulations on killing that lvl 1 person with your lvl 50 i mean that must have been soooooooooo hard.. i mean your really so awsome now..... the best ive ever seen i mean its not like ur the only one who can do it??? uve just done what a lvl 1 can do???think ur special???

this is jut an example from those mmorpg games online, which high lvl people pick on low levels and think their cool for it...

ok im getting waaaay off topic sooooooooooooooooooo........end rant here!!!!!!

Newbie, Nub, Noobie - these are all internet (l33t) slang words.

For definitions of slang words, use this: http://www.urbandictionary.com/

1. Newbie - Someone new to something. A first timer.

2. Nub - a internet acronym, similar to "noob". HOWEVER, whilst a NOOB is someone who is lame/idiotic because he is new, a NUB is someone who has had the opportunity to learn something new, but never did, and is therefore idiotic/stupid.

3. Noobie - A person who is new at playing an online game and/or is bad at it.

No one knows when these terms originated, but I remember when I was 12, playing Quake2 online (I'm 19 now ;)) and people were using them. So it probably started soon after the net began being used for online games.

Also, as I always say, skill is not necessarily represented in how MANY kills you have, but HOW you play the game. This really applies to Enemy Territory (what I play now a days, along with Trem) but XP/SCORE means NOTHING if you don't know what you're doing and why.
