I LOVE YOU, STEAM
« on: May 06, 2007, 08:45:33 am »
I love not being able to play the games I paid for because the stupid program can't load the platform files, whatever that means.

I love it when tech support tells me to pay 10 dollars and mail away my years old CD key just so that they can enter a few commands into their database and merge the two accounts I mistakenly have.

I love it when people tell me that multiplayer games not running in any playable condition is a graphics card problem when I can play the game fine in singleplayer mode.

FOR ALL THESE THINGS, STEAM, I LOVE YOU, BUT MOST OF ALL, FOR TAKING MY MONEY AND WIPING YOUR ASS WITH IT BECAUSE YOU ALREADY HAVE A PILE TH E SIZE OF MY HOUSE, AND SLEEP ON IT EVERY NIGHT WITH MANY BEAUTIFUL LADIES, WHILE ALL I WANT TO DO IS PLAY THE GAMES I DID (but didn't have to) PAY FOR. THANK YOU STEAM, THANK YOU!

steam, where you have to be online to play a single player game, but first you have to download the rest of the game that you bought in the shop etc etc.

On the other hand though, it has worked fine for me after the initial pita, and i do not want to play hl2 or cs:s again, so i dont need to worry about transfering the steam account when upgrading...

multiplayer can need more power, it also needs higher frame rate to be called playable, eg quake 4.

Yeah, that's the party line, isn't it. I don't buy it. The frickin' menu doesn't even load.

Umm... Graphics has NOTHING to do with Online... Why? because all you see is extra characters, you need more ram tho to keep track of what goes in the game tho... And the menu problem... well that has nothing to do with your ram really... I play D2, it pwnz0rz

Once upon a time dear Xonya didn't have an internet. She changed her provider so she needed to handle without net over a moth. She had recently bought Half Life Episode 1 and she was thrilled! 'Now I have time to play this because cannot play Tremulous'

Sadly she couldn't even install the original game because it needed steam to connect internet.

Happily ever after Episode 1 has been collecting dust in her shelf.

So "Kurt" from tech support tells me that they can't merge my accounts until I send them 10USD and the cd key from my original half life jewel case (from like 1998 or something). I could buy HL1 from Steam for $10, but there's no way I'm going to do that.

But that's not all! In the same message, our friend "Kurt" tells me to "please consider the matter closed" and basically to f off and stop sending them messages. So I asked him to forward the ticket to his supervisor. We'll see how long it takes for the super to get on and tell me to f off.
