As KobraKaine quite appropriately pointed out- Displacement mapping is quite interesting too. A clever but costly solution to when you look at the texture from too much of an angle and the illusion is broken.

Frankly i think you should be able to post a poll for any reason you possibly could imagine as long as its not against the basic rules: no racism, porn etc etc... Don't go editing/deleting things just because you don't like them.. your moderating for the board not yourself.
