I'd like to see some spread effect with bases, most of all with alien bases. My idea is that we make the granger spit remain forever(unless human destroys it).  With every 10th spit aliens get one extra bp and +1 hp/s inside their base (of course, the grangers spits couldn't overlap). Now this way, the area surrouding alien base would start to look more alienish :D. Maybe if you even added a small simple model to that spit, so that we would even have some bumpiness. This idea would encourage wider alien building, build up the atmosphere and it wouldn't be totaly imbalancing.

I also want shit like that but it would increase cpu usage but the main problem is balance

What about if the model would be like 4 polygons?(just to add some shape) and the effect wouldn't be that dramatic, but still noticeable

This does seem very unbalanced but nice idea. Maybe if humans had a similar feature...

craters in the walls? :D
Small ones for rifle-etc.
BIG ones for luci!  :P

It would all just EAT processor power though...
My computer barely manages trem as it is! :(

Trem needs a graphics engine which makes it look like reallife at 900 fps, a physics engine which is better at reallife physics then reallife, an integrated surround soundsystem able to play through 2 simple desktop speakers, an input device capable of doing every possible action with the press of a single button while only using a single hand, a map editor capable of pushing out pro-class maps within 15 mouseclicks, and a granger doll with every download.
I’m busy. I’ll ignore you later.

Humans also need an map-wide egg nuke at Stage 4.  No more egg hunts! :P
Oh, and a remote-controlled missile launcher!  Good for those pesky tyrant-ridden corners on ATCS.

this idea could be like zerg's in starcraft.... not add any structure or bp or hp to you. it wouldn't be the black granger spit. it would look like granger spit that is permanent that is only created by building a structure . the area of black goeey stuff would extend farther for every structure -  lets say ovm has a 20ft black goeey stuff radius and eggs have  12.5ft.  (the goeey stuff would include walls and ceilings). in this way it would be like zerg structures... the  purple haze in SC would extend farther for more building. as structures die/get killled/decon'd the black goeey stuff would minimize.

i dont think imo that this would unbalance the game but would just give the map a more alieny feeling :D

There should be some kind of building allowing you to build forward bases without the other team destroying it within a few seconds (sometimes).

To change that idea, decon buffer.

1st structure deconned will be the one which you will build at the forward location.
All other structures deconned will have their position relative to the first one saved in the buffer.
Build the first one where you want it, the rest will pop into existence building at the same time as they were relative to the old location. Give it a 0,7 reac buildtime.

This way you'll have to build that base in advance, take it down, move and build all structures at the same time.
Prerequisite. You need to build the base first anyway and in no way does it really protect the forward base from the start of building.
It simply means that you don't need to build a repeater, wait, turret, wait, get killed, wanted to build medpad, etc. And aliens still get a chance to kill it. Might also be great for base moves.

Something like:

        /-*--\
       |*    *|
        \_*_/

* = turrets
|-/_ = buffer zone ranges

So that if you decon a turret, it will build a turret there, and if you decon an armoury, it wil be build there?

Nice idea :).

i like the idea of alien buildings radiating bile stuff, it would also be good if the speed of the spread depended on the amount of other buildigns nearby, so that in bases it spreads quickly while hidden eggs spread slowly, to allow hiding eggs, it would also stop draws by egg hiding due to the location been given away after a while
