according to the wikipedia article this drug recieved quite a lot of attention from new science and the american cancer society. and since the Thalidomide tragedy clinical trials have been quite strict with releasing new drugs on the market, i heard somewhere that some trials can last 17 years. in any case i've read many stories of "miracle breakthroughs" that havent attracted enough attention to change the face of the world. like troy hurtubise, who invented completely bulletproof armour, cheap fireproof paste, and an angel light which can see though walls and cure cancer, the designs for which came to him in a dream...
Edit: oh, and btw, the wikipedia article also says that the drug may increase the risk of liver cancer, kinda uncool eh?
