When ever i try to bind a message, i go into console (~) and type:
/bind k "<message>"
When i ppress k it says: unknown cmd <message>
How do i make the message binds work?

the key there in case it isn't clear, which it might not be, is that you are missing the "say" part... so
/bind k say <message>

Implicit /say works only for messages typed manually into the console, not for binds.
