I sent a PM to OverFlow for some resources from his WIP map Siege, but I haven't had a response and I'm going to ask the Tremulous mapping community as a whole for any help I can get regarding the issue I have of making a dropship system and one-use insta-kill tower system. Here's what I'm looking for;
I am making a map based on Whiskey Outpost from Starship Troopers and I have considered using a dropship that can be summoned via a button in a communications room inside the human outpost after approximately 30 minutes, but I have no idea on how to do that. If possible, I'd like to know how to incorporate that into my map and where I can find a model to use for the dropship. Furthermore, I am wondering if A) the dropship can be configured to be destructible (i.e., a few dragoon barbs/tyrant slashes can render it unable to takeoff/make it explode and hurt everything in the immediate vicinity) and B) if it is possible to make it where the map is won ONLY if the ENTIRE human team and NO aliens are aboard the craft. Any humans aboard are considered "safe" and the dropship flies a pre-rendered course around the map, able to look out the craft's windows at the battle below. Any humans left behind are still in battle, and will LOSE the map if they are killed.
In general;
Aliens win-All humans killed, left behind humans killed
Humans win-All aliens killed, all humans board the shuttle and exit the combat area safely
This may be too complex for the current Tremulous/GTKRadiant system, but if there's any way to do it, I'd like to know. Also, I have another issue;
I also thought about having a tesla-type system around the human outpost that, 1 minute after a button press in the communication tent, generates an electrical field that instantly kills any alien that comes into contact with it. This system would require a generator built into the map to be intact (which zaps any alien near it for a little amount of damage but can be destroyed), the system to charge for 1 minute after the button press, then generate the field for 30 seconds. The visual effect of the field would be nothing more than that of the ATCS wall barriers in the arena, and would be a one-use system, so it would not overpower the human team.
If you could give me some information on these, I would be very grateful. Thank you for any assistance I may get.
That's a slightly modified copy of the PM I sent OverFlow. Hopefully, I can get some answers from the local mapping community on how to do this. Thanks!
