First and foremost there's me. Frankly everyone else just sucks, so I'm the only one on my list of five. I shan't list myself another four times as that would be big-headed.

I only thought of two:

Denton
Blade (not the friendliest guy around, but kicks serious butt)

These are some of the best that show up on BeerGarden, where I usually play.  I also added what I think are their best areas, because I think most players try to specialize in certain teams / weapons / alien forms.

[OPP]BeerBastard (both)
Xil-Anger (alien - goon)
CU|ams (human)
{SGA}Ender (alien - lisk)
[OPP]Akiosah (alien - tyrant)
{SGA}Lakitu (alien - tyrant)
Zulu/Birdman (both - luci)
CU|TheReverend (alien - dretch, lisk)
MegaMan (alien - goon)

These guys usually lead teams in kills and can really take control of games.  However I'd also like to recognize {S/W}Shugie[SU] and Oashin for taking time to build decent bases, and extracheese because he's the only other person I see consistently calling rushes as human.

Dracone(Good teamplay, good player overall)
WarLock(Nice guys, great human player, good basi)
Flower(We make a good team, good player overall)
Wakka(Nice team player, good player overall)
Blazeraid(Good builder, good team player)
And most of the NT members, who doesn't scrim as often in clan match, so I can't really say :)

Edit: In no special order

It's because so many of you are so far away that to have a game with you on a common server would involve unbearable lag. It's because of this that most American players I won't know and they won't know me either.

Big world I say!

Well, first of all, who cares anyways. Tremulous is a teamgame, not a Deathmatch game. :)

So therefore, the best player would be someone who is able to rally the entire team together and let it operate as a solidly working machine...

I can't think of anyone right now... :P

Than we must make it a deatmatch game :) !!!11!!!! I am thinking a mod?

I think Denton deserves a spot up here. He can be on a team, he still goes solo. Never asks anyone to back him up, usually alone on the battlefield. Owns everyone in kills all the time when hes on alien.

200+ isn't it?

Totally desagree

As far as i know, my team need me more for my lead than my skill. And we beat teams who has players more skilled than us.

So a skilled player versus nubs or desorganized players maybe he will rox. But you can take the best player you want, with enought skill and teamplay (good teammates), you will own him every time.

tremulous is a teamplay game, you have enought others games to play 1v1.

TerrorEast, at last a good name from the days of old. Seriously, a team composed of the prestandalone players would rock your world.

Back in the days, no one knew how to play, but now people got better, even those who only play on public server, you can't compare someone who used to play 1 years ago, and was rapping dretches (who were probably running in straight-line) and say he can "own" every remaining player, because back in the days, good player were rare, so it was easy to impress people, back in the days, game were just a death-match, but now the "mass" improved, they know a lot more about the game.

Now I'm not saying that most of the players are better than the old people like Terror East, Orc and so on, but I still find some people who can't figure out why my basilisk killed them, some people who don't know why I one-shotted their naked human with a Dragoon.

So you can easily see the lack of skills of the Tremulous community, since most of the people who know "tricks" like ground headshot wont teach it to everyone, the circle jumping, and many other stuff.

I was talking about the people who had to know every inch of the damn game because they were playing against people who already knew every inch. In the days since standalone I might have only met the concentrated quality in a team comparable to then once.
Also these days still a lot of people go for killcount, even a lot of players mentioned as good or the best get judged by it. Back then it was never about kills. Games could end with the topkiller having less than 20 kills. Kills were a means to obtaining the weaponry needed to take out eggs/spawns, oms/reactors, grangers and builders.

That is because there are constantly new people joining up and old people not taking the time to learn because there is always another server where they perform 'better'.

Many people that try to train these young guns stumble upon an ignorant player who refuses to listen to the fine art. They simply want to know how while the why or when is just as ,if not more, important.

Where's the builders? Anyone can spam pulse or Dragoon and be heralded as a 'good' player, but that 'good' player is nowhere without some decent builder(s) backing him up.
Therefore, the best Tremulous players are those who stay at the back and keep the base going so all you fragwhoring newbies claiming superiority can spam some more Pulse, or camp some more hallways with a Dragoon.
