Fedora 7 running problems
« on: June 05, 2007, 07:39:36 am »
I have newly gotten Fedora 7, Im still understanding it, and so I tried to install Tremulous.
I ran the installer and at the end said to run Trem I would type in "tremulous" (Im assuming it meant into Terminal).
Once i do so, the screen goes black and I appear at the logn screeen, its just logging me out!

I read a similiar topic somewhere about this, and it said to disable XGL or anything like that (which I dont have) and install a new graphics card driver .

Problem is I dunno how to install stuff in Linux, its like completely alien to me...
How dyu do it, Ive got a driver, Its all ready to go, its just I dunno how to.

Cheers.

What kind of graphics card you got?
Any maps not in the MG repo?  Email me or come to irc.freenode.net/#mg.

Next time you run it on a terminal, add everything within the following apostrophe's to the end of the line '> temp.txt' .

Then open up temp.txt and paste the output here.

So if you ran 'tremulous' before, run 'tremulous > temp.txt' the next time . Just so you know, the '>' puts any message tremulous outputs into a file called temp.txt. I'm having you do this because it seems like your X server is crapping out before you read the error message.

It's not logout, it's X server crash & reload. Run tremulous once more, then run
Code: [Select]
tail -n 100 /var/log/Xorg.0.log
and post here the output. If it says no such file, look for a file with similar name. I'm not sure what X server Fedora 7 uses.
If my answer to your problem doesn't seem helpful, it means I won't help you until you show some effort to fix your problem yourself!
