I request that anyone who has something to say about a new aimbotter, or who has a demo of someone aimbotting, go post it on the forum/site of the server you were on, or keep it all in ONE topic. I see about 6 topics on this page alone about new aimbotters, I also see a few in other sections.

I know aimbots just recently started being a big civic issue right now, but do we really have to spam up the forums with a ton of sections that all have the same discussion?

Thanks Null for your Aimbot, it ruins the game, and ruins the forums :(

Just stop posting demos of aimbots alltogether. We all know what an aimbot does, and all this extra coverage server absolutely no purpose.

You do realise this thread only adds to the number of aimbot-related threads, don't you? If you do- Good! Then there's no problem.

I can see what's wrong with making a new thread when you could have just as easily posted in an existing thread of the same topic. I don't, however, see what's wrong about posting your demos in your posts. You don't have to click the link and you can't exactly speak for everyone when you say people know what an aimbot looks like. People might be interested in seeing a posters example as they've only ever heard about them. Yes, it's best if they say something interesting to go with the demo post, but I don't see the harm in posting it anyway.

I agree. It's best to keep it a secret since new fustrated Unnamedplayers will probably try to get it. I didnt even know about it until I read the forums.

I would be happy if we could agree on a total closure about aimbotters. It is OK if not important for Admins and Devs to know that there are aimbotters arround and who they are, how they work. But the more we talk openly about it the more interesting the subject gets for the kiddies and the easier they get a clue about what they will have to google, whom to contact etc.

Say no to strong weapons for weak minds!

edit: Take mayor wardriving forums as example where people tend to take responsibility by not telling the noob asker everything he wants to know.

Given a choice between not telling the kiddie about the H-bomb you happen to have in your closet of mystery and just locking the closet of mystery.. I'd prefer the latter. Given that I can tell him aswell as lock it, I'd tell him aswell. I'd trust him with the knowledge so that he can keep others from going in and if he happens to get past my lock it's my fault for not making my lock good enough.

Making sure peopl don't hear about the problem doesn't make the problem go away. People will find it if they look for it or stumble across it by accident without you ever having told them. It would be a shame to keep the people who can help fix the problem from ever knowing what exactly the problem is.

No aimbot topic for players. Only developers and admins involved in testing counter-measures against aimbot can benefit from those kind of threads. aka.. hidden forum group.

So we don't encourage insight here? The devs/admins aren't the only amateurs (I use this term in the correct sense where it means someone performing some task without pay, in contrast to a "professional" who would be paid for the same task).

Our main goal is to keep tremulous nice and playable eh? ;)

I heard some people here telling stories about thier favorite games in the past that are unplayable today because of aimbots. If thats right, we maybe should learn from the mistakes the communities of those games made. I have no deeper inside so its just factless blabla. thanks you :P

I could have easily posted the demo aswell, but there are those it seems to annoy so I didn't bother. The report is for your information only and if you happen to chance upon this fellow it gives you the foresight to suspect him.

I realize you are just trying to prove a point, and i actually agree with the point you are trying to make.
A demo I think should be required (for those that have the time to watch it), to atleast ensure that effort has been spend to come to the conclusion.
Though I am sure Nux does spend time to be sure before he makes a judgment, this cannot reliable be said of all players in this forum.
So my personal opinion is that judgment without demo should not become a rule.

I know this is the internet and one should be careful with the statement I am about to make, but what the difference is to Nux and DeathSlayer is that Nux has someone that would vouch for him in this topic, and thats me  :) (for what ever my opinion is worth)

As I've said, I personally don't have any problem with posting the demo.

Here it is.

The trouble with that is I could have just as easily got someone to use an aimbot under his name. All I can do is tell you that I've seen this guy use an aimbot in the hope that if you come across him you will suspect him and find out for yourself.

Telling someone about the existence of the H-bomb and giving them one are 2 different things.

You know what i find REALLY funny? People, are ASKING aimbots on a game forum, FOR the game! Usually on other forums they BAN you for doing that... isnt it hilarious? They want to "try" the "aimbot" "out on people" and "see" whats it "like" LOLOLOL!!

I'm not asking that aimbots be given to people. I'm asking for less hush hush about aimbots. They're a problem that needs to be discussed if we're ever going to devise a suitable "child-safety lock".

the problem has been discussed, and anyone who has actually dealt with the code finds it obvious that there is no solution that isn't relatively easy to circumvent. most of the discussion on the forums consists of either dumb suggestions that make it obvious that the person suggesting it has no knowledge of the topic, or suggestions that have already been thought of by the devs and determined to be flawed (and it's largely the former).

Until some kind of tremulous add-on can be coded for servers so the aimbot script cannot run, we are phucked. They could easily just code it again...

Its like the race with Microsoft and Hackers. The Hackers always beat them to it.

I have a list started... but it is no where from being completed. I gues sI should release it to server owners?
