I'm a regular on ET.

I'm suprised there's not more people playing it, here.

If you ever get a chance to play it, you'll know what people mean by "mission" or "objective" maps.

I played Unreal Tournament. I know what people mean by "Mission" or "Objective" maps. Also, Daikatana for about half an hour... meh, and the first Deus Ex.... And RtCW, and Tribes, and Halo, and Q3a, etc.... and Rune, even (sucky but almost cool melee multiplayer).

Oh, and I thought there'd be more ET people here too, due to the Quake-based nature of Trem and ET...

Nope, no monsters.

It's not really like Team Fortress at all.  Trick jumping and movement tricks are minimal factors in gameplay, plus there are very few maps where the two teams are supposed to steal each other's flags or other items.

It tends to be more objective based, with escorting tanks and blowing up stuff.  And also, the engineer actually gets an awesome gun.  And there aren't silly gentlemen's rules about yarding and chasing and all that other stuff.

Incidentally, there is a TF mod for ET, except the existing TF playerbase seemed to make it a point to run off all the new players and I don't think anyone actually plays it anymore.

I would have thought were would have been more ET players due to the whole being free and having low system requirements thing.

i tried it and trem at the same time. trem won me over. ET is boring to me. i may try America's Army or some thing when i get a better comp though.

if someone has played America's Army, do they know if it's a bunch of people against a bunch of people, or a bunch of people vs artificial intelligence?

I *tried* to play ET.
Was quite a lot of fun-
until I went outside of the spawning point. My FPS dropped to a disgusting 10fps, so I just gave up. And this was still after reducing all settings to lowest. If there was a way to get a decent stable framerate of 20fps, I would more than happily play it.

Don't go into 20 vs 20 servers.

I stick around when the server I frequent gives me lag for two reasons:

1. I can still build.
2. Other people will leave eventually.

I tend to stick to 5 vs 5 games, or 10 vs 10, but that's a tad crowded for the axis, allies can't destroy/capture the objective.

I've never went by the name Plague. However, if you're refferring to the time I changed my name to Plague, my tagless name is Plague Bringer.
When renaming with a space in the name, you must put quotation marks around the whole name, or atleast infront of the name, for everything after the space(s) to be registered. I had simpily forgot the quotation marks upon my first name change. I immediately fixed it.

I've tried ET several times and to me was not worth the time and effort to figure out enough of the details to understand what was going on and to be proficient at playing it.  It was such a mess I couldn't even figure out who were the bad guys and who were my teamates.  Add to that my teamates at the time were not sympathetic to a new player so I decided to forget about it.

It is no doubt a great FPS but the learning curve is steep.
