Some commands not work
« on: June 18, 2007, 04:31:09 pm »
Hi,
I have running server (http://tjw.org/tremulous/) but for example "set g_gravity 100" or "set g_humanBuildPoints 500" change nothing. Why?
Thanx for help.

Are you setting those in your Server.cfg, or are you setting them in your server console window.

If you are setting them in your server console window, try setting the gravity and humanbuildpoints without the "Set" so that it would look like
Code: [Select]
g_gravity 100 and
Code: [Select]
g_humanbuildpoints 500

Not work nowhere. http://img104.imageshack.us/img104/2232/aaafh5.gif

If I change gravity in server.cfg - nothing.
If I change gravity in console - nothing.

But if I change in cfg or console - for example - timelimit, that working ok. :-(

Oh, I see what you are doing, Lol.

You are changing it in your CLIENT console.

Try changing it in your SERVER console. Your server console should run from Terminal on Macs or Linux, or from tremded.ub in Windoze. In windows it looks like a blue box thing. Anyway, what OS are you running?

Hmm, in server console it is OK. I have Windows XP. But I need change this from client console or better - from start game automaticaly. Why some settings work only from server console even I am admin? There must be way how to do this.

1) is server.cfg in the right place? (any base folder should do)
2) are you changing server.cfg before you start up the server?
3) are you starting up the server with +exec server.cfg ?

If yes, yes and yes. try typing exec server.cfg in the server console to check if it is being successfully executed. If it says could not exec server.cfg, either it could not find the file or something's wrong with it - no read permissions, for example.

See how you get on with that and ask if you are still stuck

Yes, yes, yes :-)
Executing should be OK. In server.cfg is hostname, motd, timelimit, sd etc. and all this can be successfully changed with text editor and applied.

But now it is solved. I must create another config file (bp.cfg) in this file write:
Code: [Select]

set g_alienBuildPoints "1000"
set g_humanBuildPoints "1000"

and in tremserver.bat add "+exec bp.cfg". Then are BP finally increased.
Strange, but working.

Weird, although I have a Mac, I didn't have to do that, or anything like it.

Me neither, you really shouldn't have to. Can we see:
1) your whole server.cfg
2) your tremserver.bat

Of course, since you seem to have solved your problem you might not worry about it, in which case don't :) but if you want it fixed I reckon something's up in one of those files. Like, you're setting g_humanBuildPoints twice or something silly like that.

I use files from http://avalanche.admin.googlepages.com/TremServerFiles.zip

Now I try not changed server.cfg from TremServerFiles.zip and BP can't be incerased.

In maprotation.cfg is also command g_humanBuildPoints, but also not work.

When you explain alot to 1 person you would get that they would understand, but it seems that this guy does not get it at all.  I think I will have to screen shot it for him just to understand.  ;p
No hard feelings rotacak, but it is not that hard to do what we are telling you, it looks to me that when we explain it to you, you go and try to do it different way then we are telling you to do it.
