Unlimited build points for the start of the game (short time), then effective sudden death for the rest. It makes for a change from the usual style of play and was quite fun when I tested it.

The amount of time for a team to build can be determined by a formula like "Build Time T is equal to Alien/Human Constant C divided by the number of players in that team N".

T=C/N

For Humans this constant could be 25 whereas aliens could have a constant of 50.

e.g. Aliens have 5 players, so they have 10 minutes to build; Humans have 5 players so they have 5 mintues to build.

Also accounting for players joining/leaving half way through the game, the figure would have to be recalculated in terms of the time already elapsed and the new amount of players. It would be good if this could be calculated and set by the server.

Just wwanted to hear people's opinions of this style of game (if it's already been covered on these forums, sorry to bring it up again).

Both teams times would have to be the same, as otherwise they will go and eat the opponents as they build.

That could be a tactic which makes things more fair/interesting as I'm farily sure there's a difference between how much the humans rely on structures and how much the aliens do.

Advantages of this Game-Mode:

+ Building at the start is encouraged
+ Camping after the build time is up will most likely result in loss (as structures can't be rebuilt).
+ If you attack straight away that means you're not building and so your team won't build as much, yet that rush might slow them down in their building too.
+ Makes a change from the usual style of game.

Disadvantages:

- New players might be unaware of the nature of this game mode. Maybe not a game for public servers.
- Chance of unforeseen unbalancing. Tweaking the constants might solve this.

Ah, yeah, I think I say this earlier on the Flame Wrath server.

Its a good idea, and any change from the usual is a nice change.
However, I must say it murdered my FPS, and anywhere near either bases made me run at sub-10fps rates.
I think that if it were to last 5 minutes, but both teams were given a 'top-up' chance at  30.00 for anther 5 minutes, it would still work, but it would allow people with crappy computers to be able to play  :D

But overall, its a nice idea.

Very cool idea. Can't wait to try it out, do you know what servers are running it besides Flame Wraith?

how about when humans/aliens evolve, they get an extra time to build? (like 5 minutes). This would make them go and actually kill something, for the sake of rebuilding the base :)

Hmm aliens get a longer build when they build faster.


You could have a system where buildtimes are greatly decreased in the build period, which would eliminate rushing.
