Base locations

Right, we all know about the default bases and the usual spots like the balcony (transit), dead end tunnel (transit), elevator room (karith), up (uncreation). But there must be other good spots, right? If you know some, please post them here so that the gameplay may get a little more diverse.

My first spot is karith, outside. You know, between the default human base and the elevator room. As we all know from Uncreation jetpack based building can be very useful in avoiding tyrants.

It turns out outside on karith has some very nice properties for a sky high hummies base. First of all, there's that fire exit. The fire exit has a balcony big enough for a reactor, armory, medpad and spawn. Also one can shoot through the balcony (mostly). Attached to the fire exit is a ladder, allowing people without jetpacks to go to a lower level without taking damage

Second there are lot's of ridges to put stuff on. For example under the fire exit is a small ridge, where I've managed to put a repeater, not something you want to do under hasty circumstances though. And don't forget that buildings need very little contact with solid stuff, so you can build turrets on the edge of the fire exit. Look around for more building opportunities.

Biggest disadvantage: I haven't found a way down yet that doesn't involve losing at least some health. However it looks like those ridges might allow a lara croft to get down unharmed. If anyone manages to get down to ground level from the fire exit without using a jetpack, please post a demo.

Also this suffers from the problem of sky high building in uncreation: you'll hardly win with it. But when tyrants are in play a draw can be good too and at least this base gives you two exists usable by heavies.

On arachnid2....

The base in the pipes outside of upper human base exit. The place with red lights, near the platform. Tyrants - pffft. Dragoons can't fit there either, but can try shooting inside (and get some lead in exchange). If you repair there's no problem. Marauders and anything smaller is pushed by teslas and machineguns. It ended in a perfect stalemate.
f you have a demo of ass-kicking basilisk playing against experienced opponents, ESPECIALLY in later stages, send it to me.

Dragoons can fit in there... just not Adv. Goon (Fatty!). I'll take some pics of some decent locations soon-ish ;)

You can build turrets IN the pipes in the location.

YAY Silverius, I'm glad someone is using that area for the human base, I kinda had that in mind when I built it... incidently, you can get to the fireexit without a jetpack or structures or help.  It's tricky... but possible if you try :)

I think you can get down without taking damage, but it's been a while since I tried, I'll have a go later - but it would most likely be too tricky to do ingame.
maybe I should have added a soft landing spot in the snow :/   oh well maybe for an update :)

stale mate maybe, but the humans have very little chance of escaping, as alien attacks will be ferocious. i have never seen humans win with a base up here. if the aliens smarten up and use only dragoons and adv dragoons, humans are screwed

Wouldn't want to say that. Remember that a dragoon is only half as strong as a tyrant. If the hummies have tesla's and lucifer cannons the dragoons could face some pretty nasty defenses.

The advanced dragoon isn't the only creature around with long range weapons ;).
