What the heck is zzzolz.pk3?

Well, Maybe this should be in the server section, but somewhere I downloaded a .pk3 file called zzzolz.pk3. Apparently it changes something server - side, and my server now can't run without it. In addition, all visitors to my server have to have autodownload on to get it when they join... Please tell me..wtf is zzzolz.pk3?

I'd say that your original problem was playing Trem from the same installation as your server. :)

Otherwise, I think deleting it wouldn't hurt anything. On the other hand, it's probably better to move the file and see what happens. Move it someplace where Trem wouldn't auto-load it.

Upload it so I can tell you what's in it...pk3 = zip.
Linux: ~/.tremulous/base/
Mac: ~/Library/Application\ Support/Tremulous/base/
Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Tremulous\base\

Okay, TinMan, I see what you mean. I renamed it to zzzolz.zip and unzipped it and, Guess what? It was a game.qvm inside a vm folder.

What's weird, though, is that I think that it was taking precedence over my vm folder so that my new qvm wouldn't work (I'd been having problems with it)

I'll upload it right now, but I think I fixed my problem.

lol who want to pk3 a game.qvm

Death On Ice

Never Mind..

I tried to download the latest SVN then patch it using Fork / PFB / Vcxzet's backport901.patch so that it would be compatible with my SVN game.qvm, ui.qvm and cgame.qvm

I don't really understand what I'm doing, though.. any help would be...well..helpful.

TJW's tremded is not backported, so game.qvms you make with that patch applied won't work with it. If game.qvm files are all you're interested in, you're looking for backportlight.patch or http://www.mercenariesguild.net/patches/?do=details&task_id=3 that one, either will do.

Err...I would like both a SVN server and client.. I'm not sure I'm getting that right, but this would enable me to have an updated server as well as client that are compatiable, correct?

svn clients can't connect to 1.1 servers, and 1.1 clients can't connect to svn servers, unless you really enjoy playing with yourself, this is not what you want.

something tells me either myself or archangel made that nice little file

:D

you most likely got it from visiting a clan server that he homehosted
will sort out my sig, or I will get banned.

HOW DO I SORTED SIG?

Death On Ice

Yup, I think so..but now almost every server I go to makes me download it..

I got it stuck in my base folder too...
Completely innocuous, no-one knows what it does, but that little blip of a pk3 gets spread pure server to pure server... It doesn't do much, apparently, which is why no-one bothers to get rid of it.
