Strange void problem.
« on: July 15, 2007, 04:58:06 am »
I have an odd problem in my newest map, Eden. In one place, at one specific spot and one specific angle, a bunch of brushes disappear to reveal the void. From any other angle, they look normal.

Here are two pics to describe what I'm saying :

At the spot in question : http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/8016/shot0006sr4.jpg
A little bit to the right : http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/1374/shot0005tp6.jpg

The map is not leaked and the brushes in question are structural.

Anyone know how to fix this?

That pinkness does not look like the Void.

However, that is an interesting problem... Sorry I cant help you, but my guess is that that is not the Void.

The pink is what the void looks like with /r_clear 1. Otherwise, you get a HOM effect.

TRaK, I just realized something!  I didn't notice this in-game when you were showing me, but the lights on the ceiling disappear too.  I was also noticing what disappeared, and it seems like its only when you're a dretch right?  I think it might be a funky vis problem.  Check your portals in Radiant, maybe a stray structural or hint brush?  Or with the odd angle of that section, maybe you need some hinting?

The way stuff disappears just reminds me of a tutorial I read about vis.  There is some var where you can lock the vis and then travel around to see what disappeared around a corner.  Also reminds me of r_showtris being on in game and seeing the wireframe disappear.

This happens on a spot on Arachnid2, too. Just delete the brushes and remake.
