Data Execution Problem
« on: July 15, 2007, 06:17:31 pm »
Woke up to play some Trem today, and I when I double clicked the icon I get about 10 seconds of white screen (which is unusual, It goes always goes to straight to the pig logo) and then I get the "Data Execution Prevention has prevented Trem of running" bullshit windows spews out. So I say "Okay, no problem, I'll just add trem to the run allow list."

Nothing. Not only that, DEP wasn't even enabled.

Can I get some help, please?

tjw's backport client won't cause problems with dep.

Yeah, the icon is tjw's backport. I've even re-downloaded it and it's not working.

If using TJW's backport or Linux don't help ;) go to -

Control Panel (make sure its in category view) > Performance and Maintenance > System > select the Advanced Tab > select Settings under Performance > select the Data Execution Prevention tab > add Tremulous to the list.

I know thats a lot of spam, but I couldn't find any shortcuts to get there.

Is that what Linux is about to you?  Having it hard?  If you want to have it hard, just download a bunch of adware, spyware, and viruses and put them on your Windows operating system.  That is hard.  I use Linux because it is stabler, faster, more secure, and it's great for programming.  Why would you use anything solely because it is more difficult?

Use what suites you. No reason to start a flame war over the OS stuff. Trem works on both.

I think I get better fps on xp though
