Eden Corp Marine Cloning Facility (alpha 3)

I guess since alpha 3 is on MG I might as well release it publicly.

This is my new map, Eden. It is set in a cloning station that is trying to clone a new set of stronger, faster, marines. However, the aliens infested the incubator life support system, infesting all the clones in the place.

This map isn't done yet. There are a few rooms that aren't quite finished yet, and a few bugs, so bear with me.

known problems :

- The particle system in the generator room is not displaying properly.
- Plants have a black outline.
- There is a spot in the pipes where the wall disappears to reveal the void.
- It is possible to build in one of the blocked off areas.

Changes planned :
- Change human base(I think it is too strong. I'd appreciate some more opinions on this)
- decoration and detailing in several spots.


Feedback is appreciated, especially concerning the layout.

This cheered me up after the recent hollow boxen and random rectangle brush map. The brushwork looks good, though the texturing is rather bland in some areas. The long corridors could favour humans too much, especially the narrow grey tunnels. Presumably you've used nobuild brushes in the closed off areas? If so you may need to extend them beyond these areas as a structure must be entirely within a nobuild brush to prevent it from being built.

Overall this is an impressive mapping effort. I look forward to playing it!

layout looks good to me, overall it looks good, but its very gray and dark tho :<

also where you have the two clone rooms next to each other, it can be hard to know which one you are in/direction you are facing, maybe you could remove the doors at alternate ends so you can look out and get an idea where you are.

huh... this map looks veeery promisin ;]

layout +1, texturin +1, brushwork +1

i like its darkness and grayness (i just like maps coloured like this), good climate

When i named the map Eden, I was working with the idea of a man-plays-god kind of scenario, so I set out to make the map look like the exact opposite of what one would associate to the garden of Eden. It is supposed to be dark, gray, and depressing, that is the mood I was aiming for.

That being said, there are several rooms that are far from done yet, but i think this is good enough to call an alpha :).
