Paradox, first show me the rule which justifies a close of this topic.
A move I can understand but it's nice and quiet in here before we release it to the horde by moving it out to off-topic or general discussion.

We are to lock flamewars and topics that seem hopelessly off topic.

This topic is wholly on topic with the exception of lava and plox's 2 posts. And there have been virtually no flames which can be considered inflamatory.

Then explain to me why this topic falls under your attention and none of the obvious others do? Are you annoyed it is in a place where people can actually have a semi serious conversation?
I’m busy. I’ll ignore you later.

The question is:

Did Plague Bringer save the forum?

I thought u meant by not posting for several days.

Oh, yes, he is t3h h3r0. Reformed spamz0r turns around entire community by providing gracious example of proper forum behavior which rapidly spreads like wildfire. And a fine good day to you sir.

The problem with most members here is they care more about the name next to the post instead of the post's contents itself. And there are of course some 'disturbances' like vcxzet and the like hanging around who enter topics and post things concerning members replying to the topic instead of the topic subject.

Quote the word before it as well and shove off, vcxzet. I have a lot of patience but you're not getting that from me. Go spoil some topic in the modding forum where my knowledge is barely adequate or defile another aimbot topic.

I (try) to read the post before the name of the poster, that way my reply isn't biased by my past experiences with said poster. That being said, no one can do that all the time, but I find that even the people who I consider idiots (myself included -.-) have some good points every now and them, and I'd rather take the points for what they are, not who posted them. I find that few people completely ignore the post if they see who posted it has a bad reputation, the only person who I can think of offhand who uses the user's reputation rather then what he wrote to make his next post is (and I invite him to come and defend himself) tehOen.

@tehOen - Yeah, I think he pretty much cleared it up, but just because there's a topic with the title "Aimbot strikes _insert_server_here_", it doesn't mean people won't start talking about what they had for supper last night withing 15 posts, and vcxzet (currently f0rqu3) is normally the one to encourage such off topic discussion. Damned if one of us hasn't done it once, but it happens(/ed) alot.

@anyone else who wants to take a part in this flameless set of debates (damn that's a long name) - Open for discussion/debate: does f0rqu3 only have his decent reputation because of TremX? If he hadn't created that mod, would he be as disliked as I?

Why look at the names at all?  I generally only look if its a good / bad post.
I generally use sigs as the primary form of identifying posters.

Well, how do you tell if it's a good or bad post before you look at it. You can assume, by looking at the signature, postcount, or name of poster, but untill you look at the post and read it all the way through, you do not know whether it is good or bad.

i prefer to read the name first, knowing how i feel about the person (as in, pl0x suggesting everyone stop spamming rather than survivor or one of the helpful people) This only really matters if the guy is a flamer or a troll, otherwise i take it seriously. my hate is usually reserved more for spammers (quote me, i don't care) and the ones who have contributed little or nothing to the communtity. especially the ones that piss me off, or have never tried to have any meaning in their posts.

@Bringer - Oh, how this whole discussion reminds me of The Comics Journal forums: numerous sock puppets, multiple accounts well-known and tolerated by moderators, people who constantly "quit" "the scene" "forever" and come back under another alias one whole day later, creators/contributors/artists whose shenanigans are tolerated because of their "contributions" to the "scene", average users who get pissed off by the well-tolerated spammers/trolls/aliaswhores/sock-puppets and try to emulate/chastise/rehabilitate them, and etc.

It's the same old brand new Internet, and these same "issues" have been discussed at many "community" venues ad infinitum. These scenarios are only new to you if you are new to the web. Otherwise they are tired old nags whose corpses have already been flogged beyond recognition. So forgive us if we don't take the end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it hyperbole too seriously. The same thing goes on everywhere that people get to be anonymous jerkoffs by hiding behind a made-up name and communicating by keyboard. Every game I've ever played had the same "concerns" about the "state" of discussion, and the "level" of debate.

Ah, to be fresh, dewy, and hopefully expectant in regards to the potentialities of other humans (let alone one's future self).

To some extent we should be able to control as to maintain an acceptable level.
We have a large enough mod team, the problem is that should the admins decide to go after the troublemakers by now we would be banning >50% of the board's active members. And they would just come back like vcxzet did numerous times.
And the only ones that can ban are the admins, not the moderators. As such it's very easy to evade or overwork mod control if you're determined and know how to.

Are you implying that vcxzet was banned numerous times? If so, that's probably reason for a permaban of his IP, and if it's dynamic, a range ban, given no one else is in his range.

If a ban of 50% would help, I'm all for it. It's really pissing me off when I come here every day to see the same idiots whacking off and getting some shits and giggles from flaming, derailing threads, watching flamewars and not locking them when they get out of hand, letting trolls who obviously don't even play the game, *coughpolishfarmerboycough* ruin legit threads without siphoning them, etc.

Edit: On a side note, how many people have n00b pl0x on their shitlist? I mean, is it just me or is he getting really annoying with all his clone threads and other assorted shitspam?

Yes david, I'm aware of that. If you haven't noticed, I haven't been spamming, and as such am trying to get out of that 50%.

tehOen, grow up, seriously. You have always had something against me, before I started my trolling. Seriously, you are the retarted spammer here. You are the last person to talk about the state of this forum because I am the one taking steps in attempt to redeem myself. Also, if you were banned once, for good reason, and came back, then you are technically evading a ban. Which is reason for another ban. Also, you're constantly creating new accounts, and for what purpose? To hide your identity when you think people are getting sick of you?

Edit by Survivor: This is the exact reason why some topics go to hell. Quit attacking members and start discussing with real points instead of the shit that I edited out here.
A bunch of quotes contributing nothing to the topic and only mocking someone's history is a foul way of arguing and derailing in any discussion.
