At the moment, the appearance of tyrants often ends games. Obviously they're powerful and so they should be (though whether that power ought to be moderated
a little is a moot point).
However, just the sight of them seems to send some / many human players a little crazy ("OMG Tyrants") and some will get really 'disconnecty'. Obviously there is bad base design, poor teamwork etc but there are a few things that humie soldiers could do to make things easier for themselves (hence the reason for this thread).
Some obvious things from a relative noob:
i) Don't stand there and shoot at an incoming tyrant unless you are absolutely 100% sure that it's near dead. It's a bad thing to do with
any alien, no matter a tyrant. Typing \kill in the console would be slower. Sorry.
ii) Similarly, don't just walk back and fire at an incoming tyrant - better than standing and will work for some aliens but it'll perhaps give you..err..1-2 seconds more with a tyrant. They can only hit you from the front, so feint and move left-right whilst turning to face him, like you do on any other FPS
iii) There are times for light armour / helmet combos (such as the 'great egg hunt' ) and there are times for 'suits. If you haven't got a suit on, then keep distance
whilst facing the naughty tyrant and shoot with long-range weapons.
iv) Chasing - I know running after a tyrant is a bit dodgy, but IMO, if you can tell that it's badly wounded then
for the team it seems a worthwhile activity and also moves the fight away from the middle of the base. If you die killing a tyrant then thats 1 kill to the aliens to 5 evolve points lost. Oh and the sprint button is there for a reason!
More tips and comments please!
