This is a new map, my first map. I think Im trying to outdo myself. I assure you it will turn out fine, though it will take a while. This is possibly the largest map ever made for tremulous, though the brush count will astound you, textures are used in a way to make it look more complex. There are 2 ships, alien and human. There is also a huge starbase, property of the Ancients (thus the name.) It seems the Ancients went on holiday, and in their absence there is a battle taking place for their base. As a motivation to capture the starbase, there is an ammo replenisher room, when you walk in your ammo is replenished automatically, and there is a healing room, you walk in and are instantly healed. Yes, this goes for Tyrants too. I have discovered how Overflow made his gravity tubes. I intend to use that in the space between the ships and the starbase, making very low gravity there, like 10 so you arent trapped floating. I am still starting on the first ship, the human's ship. Wondering how you get between ships?
There is a shuttle network using the func_train key. It stops at several places. The human shuttle bay is basic. The shuttle comes in, turns around, stops at a loading ramp, and takes off again. The alien shuttle bay is much much more complex. It goes up, down, and around several corners. It stops in several places, and then goes into a big open room, where there are a bunch of parked shuttles. I havent discovered how to attach doors to the shuttles, so there is clip in space that you cant see, so you don't fall out. I hope everyone likes this because I am putting a lot into it. Anyway, there will be a science room in each ship. In the alien ship, theres a goo block. Its like water, but theres no container and you can just walk into it. In the human ship there will be a cannon that shoots very, very, very hard. There will be a cushion to keep you from dying. Dretches can hide in the shuttles, and back on the topic of shuttles, there is a honeycomb like thing for dretches to climb into, like their little beds. There is a similar place in the alien ship, complete with Tyrant spaces. There will be a hovel room, and since hovels do not take build points, there will be a bunch of them. This map will hopefully be fun and challenging. Thank you for reading my long-winded introduction.

Nice to see my first two comments are positive. This spreads hope in me, probably meaning it will come faster. I will whip up an alpha test soon so you get the basic idea.

Apart from thinking this is incrediblyu leet, be warned:

Dont put light years of space between the ships of nothingness.
There really is no point in me telling you, cos u will adgust, but 10 is rather low.


Ive been wanting to do some sort of space idea after these ground maps Ive been doing.

Better think up an idea.

@n00b, egghunts/marahunts will extend the lifetime of the map, to about 7 thousand years perhaps.
In the future when are descendants have eyes on their foreheads and eat through their ass, they will still be complteley obsesssed on finding that bloody granger.

Is it actually possible to make a train entity turn on a path_corner? I've read somewhere that it's possible for Jedi Academy but I couldn't get it to work.

Currently not in trem 1.0 or 1.1. Don't know if it will be in 1.2 but none of that kind of changes have made it to my knowledge so don't expect it.

Looking forward to play in your map! Hey can you provide screenshots even though it isn't finished.


You just push PrntScn if you have a Microsoft Comp and Keyboard. Then you paste it into paint. Upload it in Imageshack.us and then copy link to DIRECT IMAGE and use img tags and paste the link. Then we see how cool it is!


Btw I rate it 8/10 since I don't have the screenshots in front of me and the gravity. Please make the gravity a little higher somewhere in between 35 - 115. Since it will take aliens a long time to get back down, so humans will win since their bullets can go far.

I learned the word Ancients before kindergarten, and by the way, that was only a couple years ago. I happen to be 12. I am no longer working on this map, but dont get mad, I have shunted it to a better idea, a smaller map. Okay, theres this bunker you know? Big bunker, still in construction. One day humans working on it hear a huge BOOM, they go up in their pillboxes and its a crashed alien dropship! Its all organic like the OM and stuff. And then dretches start pouring out and start wallwalking up into the pillboxes and eating them all alive! So theres a lot of dead bodies up in there, ones missing his head (cool illusion with a little blocking thing that wont clip) and everything. Wait till you see it, fully functional fighter drones that I modeled myself (Yeah, ima mapper and a modeler in the dev team for Dimension Wars, practicing with Trem cus theyre both q3 engines). Wondering whats inside the alien dropship? Yeah, you can go in. Buncha grangers litter the halls, dead, dretch patrols dead on the wings, everything. Tyrant pits, a hovel room, egg room, dretch, basi, mara, goon, granger rooms....

Sound good? Just wait. Theres an easter egg in the fighter return bay. There will be a wrecked drone sitting there. You look in, theres a miniature pony in there!!! PONIES PONIES PONIES!!!

dimension wars is a new game, yeah this map WILL be used as a proof of concept for DW, so you get what we're all about. it wont be entirely the same though since we'll have put much more work into it. this map is just a warmup for me, survivor, so shut the hell up

gmax for now, but my buddys programming one just for me and the DW project in general. You guys might have to pay for it, hes working hard on it. I get it free cus he openly supports this thing. we're working hard to get it off the ground, so i have been asked to spread the word. We're still on the website, but itll be up in no time and i will tell you soon. anyone that can contribute, send a pm to me on the forums and ill get back to you. I'm pretty sure i already have TRaK convinced about it, seeing as hes one of my favorite mappers other than jex, but i dont think jex would help us.

wonder if timbo minds us using trem to do this...oh well. He already hates me. yeah, i managed that without him even talking.

Please no... It's an awesome map idea, but that's just too gimmicky...

If you could make like a sort of thing on the wall that reloads your ammo when you use it, that would be acceptable, but a room that does so would just be too gimmicky, like High-Rise or Labyrinth.

sounds like metroid, replace chozo with ancients (they both are technically really old?) and then replace the aliens with zebesians
