Installing Trem on amd_64 ubuntu
« on: August 15, 2007, 03:58:58 pm »
While trying to install tremulous I get the "The setup program seems to have failed on amd64/glibc-2.0" error.
This topic which says I need the 32bit libraries to install trem, but it fails to mention the specific libraries. Can someone tell me what libraries I'll need?

Also, when using the add/remove software thing to get tremulous, it seems to install fine, but when I try to run it I am dumped back to the login screen.

The strange thing is, I got trem to install and run fine on a fresh ubuntu install, but when I upgraded to a larger hdd and reinstalled ubuntu these problems showed up.

Thanks for the help.

Edit: I think I know what the problem is, I forgot to install the driver for my graphics card. I'll install that and update this post with the results.

you really dont need to install tremulous

    you need libopenal

    create folder Desktop/tremulous/base

    copy all pk3 to Desktop/tremulous/base

copy tremulous.x86_64 (if you cant find one, you need to compile it yourself. ouch)

run tremulous.x86_64(make it executable if it is not)

Thanks for the information.

And the reason the add/remove programs one didn't run was the driver.

I'll try to get a 64bit one compiled. At the very least it might help me get used to compiling things.
