I have just had an interesting error while trying to /devmap my map in trem:

MAX_PATCH_PLANES

I have used a simple patch mesh , so it maybe to do with that.

Does anyone know any solutions?

Or even just what is wrong with it?

I believe it means that your patch mesh has too many face for the game to cope with, I've had a similar error with brushwork which means the brush has to many faces.

ShadowNinjaDudeMan

oh bugger

Is there any way of reducing the numbers of faces automatically while still retaining the general shape?

Like a sort of scale down patch faces.

I believe you can work around this by converting the patch to an .ase model. Perhaps someone with more knowledge can elaborate on this.

ShadowNinjaDudeMan

cool.

Someone know about .ases? (classic...)

The q3map2 shader manual explains how to create a .ase model from your brushwork.

I was wrong, it's not in the manual but in the wikibooks.
You can find the article here.

Cheers.
I thought I had come across a topic about it once, on the internet, but it turned out not to be.

Thx again.
