Why?

Consoles are for people who call themselves gamers,. but are in fact gay lightweights.

FUCK YOU XBOX!!!!

Now my friends think theyre so leet, cos they play XBOX live, they suck at the online gaming community thing.

Consoles are for ppl who fancy themselves as gamers, but arent teh real thing.

Go with your idea of posh consoles!
I thi nk its suckable.

No offence lol, I just dont linke consoles.

i like consoles *sniff*
actually, i like them more for single player, and when my friends are over
one of my neighbors is a halo 2 addict, and he thinks hes so leet, then he tried tremulous and couldn't even figure out the controls

i played halo against him, and despite the fact that i've never played it, except for like, short stretches of five minuets, i did better than many of his friends lol

looking at halo though, i wonder why it's so popular
the maps are stupid, the guns are bland, and the gameplay just doesn't vary

Exactly, I think we can all understand each others shared feelings about consoles.

Good for friends, cos without any prior knowledge, you can OWN them at anything on it.

It just goes with the Trem Package.

You should be able to play Trem on PS3 Linux when once it gets fully supported. If you want support for any other console, port it yourself.

BTW, AAlib renderer would be awesome. THAT would be console Trem :D
If my answer to your problem doesn't seem helpful, it means I won't help you until you show some effort to fix your problem yourself!

All I want in the way of consoles is an 8-bit SNES one side-scroller tremulous, with jinky weird music playing all the way through.

except performance would suck since tremulous is mostly single threaded and too large to fit on the SPEs

No thanks, its probably painfully hard to develop a free, open source game for use on a console.
On a side note, Halo 2 was very disappointing, didn't live up to Halo: CE.

Holy crap, that would be so awesome.

Have you ever played Qake?  It's a 2d sidescroller version of Quake.  It's more in the style of old computer games than console games, but it definitely delivers.

I heard that there is a rouge company from New Zealand making an NES version of Tremulous. Here are a few pictures:

Clan {Jo|So} were clan {No|Shows} at todays war between them..

The Magma Warriors are pissed off you wasted our time, and I have decided I will DOS attack your server, I have a program for that. Unless you want to get your asses on, and do a 3 on 3 or 4 on 4.

No, you're not :D

If someone could port trem to a console, it would create quite an influx of noobs to own :P and may actually convert some away from consoles once they see how they have no chance of winning without the granularity afforded a keyboard/mouse set of controls.

Sorry to go off track, but yesterday I wandered through the local Best Buy and found that their selection of PC games was crap.  One aisle.  ONE!  I hope this isn't a sign of the end of the PC based games market.

As one of those 'gay lightweights', I can say you are absolutely clueless. The reason you don't like consoles is probably because you cannot quick-save every step of the way, or because you just fail at properly utilizing a control pad.

You call Super Mario leightweigth? Zelda? Metroid? Final Fantasy? Ico? Wanda and the Colossus? Resident Evil? I mean, this list goes on and on and on with games that all prove you are more wrong than you could ever begin to imagine. It also shows you are very new to the world of gaming, with such a lack of respect for consoles. You fail.

I assume you mean Halo for Xbox. Halo for PC is much better. But I hate how long it takes them to give us a release on the pc.

I think a roguelike trem would be pretty fun though.

Meh, I dont like them anyway, I can emulate them all off my PC.
For Free (minus the actual games, even then, there are ways...)
Easily, therefore eliminating the need to spend £Too Much on a console.

And If (IF) I wanted a Console Control, I could just whip out my trusty USB PC game control (which I love dearly).

I like the SNES, tis way cool.

IOW, I just whooped your arguments ass.

Has anyone else noticed the spelling error in the title, or just me? Anyway, being the sort of game it is, I think best suited to a computer, where there are already thirving games of similar genres.
