map problems

hey i just got some new maps and extracted them in the base folder but the files aren't showing up in the game.

You're not supposed to extract maps.

I'm guessing you either use a Mac and Safari or Windows and IE and it is giving the maps the extension .zip.
Do not unzip the maps - rename them to *.pk3. Make sure that your OS does not simply hide the zip extension - it must end in pk3 only.
